You do know what a flywheel is, I hope. Aftermarket pulleys and flywheels serve somewhat of a same purpose: they're both meant to reduce the amount of power taken from the engine for all the drivetrain movements so that more power gets to your wheels. The way a flywheel upgrade does it is by reducing the weight by some 50% or so. It's then easier to spin the flywheel and it doesn't take as much power. The same is done with the underdrive pulleys: they're made smaller and fit smaller belts onto them so that it's easier to get everything moving. Unorthodox Racing is just a brand that makes the pulleys, they're most popular. Hope I helped you some.

The unorthodox pulleys, I believe, provide smaller wheels to power other engine components. By doing this less power is taken from the engine and the power to your wheels.
I have heard horror stories about overheading engine problems, I'm personally staying away from the pulley. |

Pulleys to me are pretty good. I have also some horror stories about them. Mostly about how Unorthodx Pulleys have an outer lip that rubs against the crank seal and causes oil leaks. Pretty sure thats due to people not tightening it securely or installing the pulley "dry"(not applying lithium grease to the sealing lip of the cracnkshaft oil seal). well thats my input for today

I won't go into the differences too much, for SOMEONE's sake...
The pulleys depower the accessories, so there may be some problems. I've never thought them a worthy mod, but many w/ 240s swear by them. A lightened flywheel works by reducing the rotational mass load between the engine and the tranny. A lighter flywheel has less mass, and is therefore, easier to get spinning fast. As a result, engine revs are able to be placed into the driveline more rapidly. In simple terms, it is lighter and allows the revs to jump up sooner - allowing you to reach peak rpm ranges for hp and tq sooner. It unfortunately has the equal and opposite effect during shifts... the revs fall as quick as they rise, making matching more difficult and taking you out of your optimal rev zone. |

i haven't had any electrical issues, i run 700watts off of 2 different Precision Power amps, i still have my original alternator, and no 2nd battery. the asp underdrive pulley works very well for me. the car responds very quickly. the only comparison i can think of is try accelerating with the A.C. on then turn it off and do it again. this was the difference between before pulley and after the pulley.
