Dude you bought drop zone....

I feel kinda bad you bought some "coilovers" with your hard earned money but in the end you got screwed. You get what you pay for.

Do your research.

what these guys are not so suddly (sp?) trying to say is that dropzone coilovers are THE WORST you could get. They're the lowest quality and if you put them on your stock shocks, you can expect some blown shocks real soon. Your pinging sounds like they're not installed right... or then again they are and they're just THAT crappy :/

Sorry to be the one to tell ya

"Subtly" or to be "subtle".

The popping/pinging noise you hear is the coils slipping around in their perches (or the perches slipping around on your strut tower or lower strut perch) causing this popping sound. You probably don't need to worry TOO much. I vaguely remember reading somewhere that these required some sort of custom work being done to either your strut towers or your lower strut mounts, though... you should make sure you installed these correctly by contacting someone who has done this type of fake coilover install before.

Good luck

wouldn't the install be similar to GC's? or no?
if so, and he didn't cut off the spring perches, it could well be the sleeve not being straight/balanced around the damper, resulting in it knocking back and forth under load (something GC's will do if you don't use all the supplied hardware correctly).

Subtle! duh. That's what I get for replying to a post past my beddy-bye time hehee this is also the reason I changed away from my english major years back hahaha
