camshaft timing problem

greetings...I've recently finished replacing the head gasket on my '96 240, but it doesn't quite run like it should. My guess is there's something wrong with how I've got the camshafts timed. I ran into a problem when installing the upper timing belt. There were no marks to line up! After reading the manual, I could only find one dot on each camshaft but no marks anywhere on the chain. Anyway, I setup the camshafts the best I could, but the engine feels powerless at low RPMs and not quite as powerful as it should up top. Can anyone help me out? Does anyone have any pictures of their cams while the crank is at TDC(or any position as long as you know where)? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
