GC/KYB COMBO or Tein Flex Coilovers for daily driver!

hey

i have a 95 S14 240SX and i wanna do some suspension work..but i have a few question..

this will be used for aggressive daily driving, 1/4 mile track, and possible some autoX and road race(rarely), but i wont need anything for competition. i just want something to lower my car and to give me a sportier feel around town w/o sacrificing too much comfortablility. not a cadillac, but not a Go cart, something in between.

since im not competing in any races of any kind, i dont want something too expensive. thats why i decided to look into adjustable spring/shock setup.
i know i would want ground controls coilovers if i went this direction. BUT, what spring rate would meet my needs?
also would the KYB AGX be a better match that tokico or koni?

my original intentions were to get something like a full coilover setup such as Tein flex or Jic FLT-a2. but i think this might be a little overboard for my needs. what do you think??
would something like Flex/FLT be a significant step up than the GC/KYB setup?? is it worth the extra money? any big differences?

some additional questions:
when changing ride heighth, how can you tell when it is even on each corner? are the threads marked in any way. for an example: how would i go about dropping the front 1.8 and the back 1.5 with being percise.
when changing ride heighth on either setup, will it mess up my camber or alignment? IF i adjust ride heighth will i have to get re-allignment?
is there anything else i would need like new bushings, camber correction kits??

any help or experience is greatly appreciated!
and yes, i have searched through 5 message boards and have done lots of research on suspension mods...i just want personal opinions and experiences from other 240SX owners to reply to my specific questions that i havent found in other posts...thanx

pretty much everything you mentioned, except of you ordered your GC's with a really light weight... are going to kill you kidney for a car that'll be 80-90% daily driven.

Seriously, spend your hard earned $ on soemthing else if it's just daily driving mostly, just get springs, then you can save for something else, FLT-A2s on a daily car, sort of overkill, definitely a waste.

I came off of one blown shock and 160,000 mile old springs onto AGXs and gold line springs and I like it for a daily driven car... I, as of late, have begun questioning people who went from springs to GCs myself, but for a daily driver, a good spring/AGX combo will do you nicely.

I went from springs to GC for 3 reasons:

1. Got a great deal on them
2. The GC springs had a higher springrate
3. I needed to adjust the car height in order to get my exhaust to clear some driveways and speedbumps.

Hello, i recently purchased tein he coilovers for my s13. I would highly recomend these coilovers! My car is a daily driver and these work great for me. Teins are hands down the best suspension. Although they might be more expensive (i paid 1,300) than other suspensions, the ride quality is far better than a spring/shock combo. Also teins are rebuildable, so if you ever have any problems just send them back to tein, and they will take care of it for you! good luck-

hands down best for STREET and some track

you get serious on track use you'll want to dump the teins. trust me.

my HEs are wonderful on street, more like a 6/5 kg (or maybe bit more) setup then a 8/6 because of the crap valving on the HEs. i want to get mine revalved higher for the track use i do.

JIC FLT-a2 has valving to match the 8/6. that's a stiff ride.

2-3 times a month
i go thru a pair of FM901s monthly, sometimes a full set. not autocross, but open track events and primiarly drift events.

edit: this year has been slow, but once speedtrials picks up again, will be at least 2-3. right now 1-2 events. some practice in between too

doing some autox soon im sure, gotta give it a try, but i'll get so high bumped up i think and my car is stock KA power. bleh.
