DIY shift boot kit

Hey guys,

I've been thinking how cool/easy it would be to get my hands on a "DIY shift boot kit" which would provide pre-cut fabric/leather and detailed instructions on where to sew, etc.
After a bit of searching all I could come up with was some decent but hard to follow instructions...

My question for you all is; if a kit such as this existed, would you buy it?

It would include pre-cut fabric (leather or other fancy design, etc), very detailed, color-picture instructions, needle, and thread (color of your choice).

I was thinking the price would be close to $20.

I haven't put it together or anything, I'm just trying to see if it would be worth the time to put something like this together, and if anyone would really be interested in it.

Thanks,
Kevin

sorry to say anything to hurt your business but. its not that hard to make a shift boot. all you need to do is cut an old oem boot down the threads and then trace that on the fabric you want and sew it inside out and your done. a kit would be worthless and you would probally be wasting money because people would catch on and not buy your kits, instead they would just make there own.

but people are lazy and will buy it ... because they wont have to measure, and pick up fabric. when its all in a kit for a cheap price... sell it for $15 and you might have more luck because fabric is cheap...

I think if someone can sew the panels together they can cut and find fabric.

I think the reason that complete shift boots are so popular is because people can't sew.

I have made the past three I've had in my car. I just go to the fabric store, pick out something gnarly, cut it out, and staple it together. Seriously, you can just staple the shit together and no one can tell. I get complements on them all the time.

That being said, you might have better luck selling a "template" kit for people who don't have an OEM shift boot to measure their new boot from. You could sell it for between 5-10 bucks no problem and it wouldn't cost you much money at all.

Thanks for all the input guys. I had a feeling it wouldn't really work, but I wanted to get more opinions from car people first. 95ka-turbo, thanks for the idea ^^
