I am trying to really learn about what it is that differentials do....

As far as I know it transfers the power from the driveshaft to the axle shafts. But what does what better. I hear VLSD sucks for drifting, why? What is a open diff.? How can/will this effect drag racing, and auto-x?

Damn, I know this sounds like a buncha newb ****, but HowThingsWorks.com isnt really down like that.....and google has about a billion pages of tech. b/s that doesnt make a lick of sence.

If you consider this a noob question, Im sorry but this is a REAL pain in my ass. I feel like I am missing something here.
