KA KA from a junkyard...engine life

thinking about changing out the motor with another ka...I was wondering what can I do to make sure that the engine won't blow up in the near future, I know I can do a compression test, but are there other ways to make sure it is a good engine, the junkyard guy doesn't have the records on the engine, so I'm basically in the dark...

do a leakdown test also... aside from that, you're pretty much in the dark

Does the guy just say the motor runs, or is it in a car that is in running condition?
If it's not running, your not going to be able to do a compression test

Yoshi, what does a leakdown test do again? How do you do that?
