s14 S. Tech Springs, which way?

OK. So I got my S. Tech springs in and so I pull off the old strut/shock assembly and take them to my friendly neighborhood auto shop to put the springs on, as I am afraid of the rental spring compressors.
Anyways I get them back and the rear springs were put on with lettering on them so that you could read it, but the fronts had the lettering upside down, I asked the guy if that was they way and he said they fit better that way, but do they go the other way? He said he would switch them around if they needed to be.

Thanks

There is a top and a bottom to the springs, and it'd be tough to put them in upside down.

The top spring perch is flat and the bottom one is notched. The way the springs are made, the bottom tail of the spring fits into the notch, and the top tail of the spring is wound flat.

Alright... it's not really a "notch" but I couldn't think of a better term.

All 240SX struts should have a lower perch that looks like this:

The top tail of the spring won't properly fit like this.

heh Those are actually Tokico HP's but it's all the same.

Sounds like they're installed straight! Weird that Tein would print the lettering upside down though.

Ok, I would have put a $100 that those were AGX's but they are both stock replacments and paint is just paint. Anyways I think I am going to call Tein USA and find out today.

Thanks for all the help so far.

Thumbs up

i installed my springs over the winter, you're doing it right - the lettering is upside down.

they really do only fit that way, i wondered the same thing, so i tried both, and they only fit that way
