S14 tension rod will not fit... Please help!
So I just attempted to install my set of aftermarket Yomato Garage Tension rods replacing the SPL1 ones that I broke :S
The end bolting up closer to the front bumper doesn't fit inside the (I have no idea what it's called) area where it bolts to. I'm not referring to the lower control arm, but rather the other end. Any idea why this would be? From what I understand, S13, S14 and even S15 tension arms are all the same... |

Sounds ok to me, but the problem is that the old SPL1 ends are thinner then the new Yomato one The SPL1 fit perfect making me thing that the Yomato ones are "Wrong"... The SPL1 one is also longer...

S13, Z32, and Q45 tension rods are the same. S14 and S15 are just over 25mm longer OE. So in some cases, aftermarket adjustable rods aren't long enough for S14/S15 if designed for S13. That's one issue, as shown in your picture. The other has been addressed, the bracket may be bent a little, not allowing the rod to slide into place. Pry it open. Once tightened it will bend back into it's OE shape.

Those rod ends on your new tension rods look like crap. I'd change those out before putting them on your car.

sorry. you bought boop S13 rods to replace good s14 ones. Either grind down the "rod end spacers" or pry the bracket open wider. If the yamamoto ones stretch to fit the S14 gap, I doubt there will be much thread left.
