How Bad Is The Damage

So how Bad is the damage?
Will it pass safety inspection? or will it need to be repaired?
if so how much would it cost?

That damage is pretty typical. It's a bitch to fix and it does compromise chasis rigidity enough to not be happy with but I doubt you will fail any inspection because of it. That's just from some idiot jacking the car up in the wrong spot, repeatedly it looks like.

I am certified by the state of TX to do car inspections and use to do so at jiffy lube, I can tell you right now your car can't be failed because of frame damage.

the damage doesn't appear to be to bad, I got the same thing going on driver side rear

Wasn't there a guy somewhere a while back making new and I think maybe better frame rails? Think they where something that you put over the old ones though.

Those are just frame rails, they're not THAT important.

Cars in Japan don't even have them.

Someone should make something like this for the S-chassis. I have pretty much scraped through my frame rails.

If it doesn't, it's not because of that 'damage'.

I bet, your shit is stupid low. Those bars are just 1" square tubing I bet, but if you put that under the frame rails, now those are the lowest part of the car and you'll scrape even more. Plus there's no need, I have my entire 3" exhaust tucked above my frame rails - no need for the tubing to protect it.

You must not have ever seen a car before. At least the underside of one. I've never seen a car period that didn't have beat up rails, even my old Datsun 210 that was senior citizen driven was crunched. People don't pay attention when they drive and the rails are the lowest part on most cars, so they all get damaged.

Worrying about that is like worrying about bird shit on the paint.

My rails USED to be perfectly clean. Then my idiot friends decided to do me a "favor" and change my tires for me while I was in the driver's meeting at the redline time attack this year. Some "favor" that was.

I'm actually building another chasis, hopefully it'll be done by the end of the year. Not because of the framerails though. I don't worry about the framerails anyways. I'm not low enough to scrape them unless something decidedly bad happens and I know where to jack the damn car up!

My rails used to be clean untill i had to use the jack on them in a emergency situation. You wont notice a "rigidity" difference with damaged rails unless they are REALLY messed up.

cars in japan dont have them? what the fuck?

i had an s13 in japan, and the "frame rails" were smashed almost flat on both sides towards the front from misscoursing at ebisu when i was a noob, drove perfectly fine and didnt effect chassis rigidness.

who ever said cars in japan dont have the same "rail" design is INCORRECT

My rails have terrible rust holes at the point where they turn up before the front wheels. The rails are about an inch off the ground, so they get bashed like fuck at that spot as well. Car drives fiiine.

Those frame rails are cooking foil thin and in my opinion don't do shit. As mentioned above the JDM cars do not even have em, I freaked out first time I tried to jack up my car and one caved in a little bit, but did some reading and they really should have no bearing on handling.

its not that the overseas models dont have them, its that they dont have the ENTIRE frame rail.. they are missing parts of the rear/mid section. actually, its probably only one side. search through pics of 200/180sx'es and you'll see what were all talking about, SONNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNnnn
