Oil leaking all over the place

Car: 1995 S14
Engine: S14 SR
Mods: S15 turbo, rocker arm stoppers, thicker head gasket (can't remember what kind or thickness), greddy profec b spec ii, many other odds and ends all professionally installed by the now defunct Heavy Throttle.

search strings: "oil pressure", "high oil pressure", "oil pressure high"

About 2 days ago, I started to notice that my oil pressure seemed VERY high. I know that upon a cold start the pressure can be about 75-80 psi and it should usually drop to around 45-50. Even when the engine is fully warmed up, I've noticed that the oil pressure remains really high. At 65 mph at about 3000rpm the pressure is about 75 psi.

If I start to accelerate and raise the rpm to 3500-4000 the oil pressure goes to over 90 psi. I've searched here for potential problems and found threads mostly concerning low oil pressure but only 2 or 3 that had anything to do with high pressure. A bunch of people stated that high pressure is not a bad thing and that low pressure is more alarming but I'm still worried if the pressure says that it's over 90 psi.

Also, on my way to work today, an oil leak coming from the turbo side of the engine was dropping oil all over my exhaust. I'm going to see if I can take some pics and post them later today (I'm at work now and don't have the capability to post any).

What oil are you using? What kind of pressure gauge are you using?

Using 10w30 and the gauge is a 0-100psi Autometer Phantom electric gauge.

Oh man... check compression and leak down, sounds like pressure from the chamber is leaking passed the rings and pressurizing the crank case. The oil might be coming from the crank case breather, leaking onto your manifold. Pull your intake tube to your turbo and check for oil or check your catch for oil, but that is what it sounds like to me.

What is the potential fix for what your suggesting? I'm kinda freaking out now because although I like to do all my own work, I'm now afraid I've got a problem that is beyond my capability to fix.

I'm also freaking out because I am at work right now, I'm the only one in the damn office, and I want to fix the problem RIGHT NOW! ack.

Build the internal, I don't think anything is beyond your capability to fix except your wallet isn't

changing out the rings isn't too hard if you decided to rebuild the motor.

I'm hoping that nothing is fried internally. I'd have to go so far as to say that I've not really pounded on the car since I've owned it, my friend who I bought the car from only put a few hundred miles on it, everything was professionally installed....the list goes on.

It really has me baffled as to the oil pressure. I wouldn't be freaking out so much if my S13 was running right!!!! Lol I guess it's the name of the game.

I did go out on my lunch break to look for where most of the oil was spewing from and I want to say it was a hose that is right under the cyl4 exhaust manifold pipe. Looks like there is a banjo fitting that clamps down a breather tube. I didn't have enough time to inspect it more closely but I did clean out the area of most of the oil. I'll be home in about an hour and I'll get cracking at it after it cools down.

Not that I should have to ask the obvious but, how much oil are you putting in?

Was about 5 quarts total (I have a greddy oil pan). I'm not going to drive it anymore until I can change the oil and get a new filter because I don't know how much leaked out. I just added more 10w30 to get home....

So, on my way home from work, I let it warm up (it's about 85-90 degrees here where I live). I kept an eye on the oil pressure gauge the whole way home and kept it below 65 psi. I kept the rpms under 3500 (averaged 2700 most of the way). I didn't notice any smoking like before (oil hitting the exhaust). Doing this obviously kept the turbo from spooling up.

I decided to give it some more gas when I pulled onto my street (about 4300 rpm, or right where the boost comes on). The oil pressure went a over 75. I did this for about 2 seconds. As I pulled into my driveway I noticed the smoke again.

Right now I'm going to wait for everything to cool off and I'll try to see exactly where it's coming from.

Anyone else have any ideas why my oil pressure is so high? I've been looking around all damn day and can't figure it out!

sounds like the same thing that happened to mine just before i pulled my sr....

excessive blow-by was causing oil to leak (in my case the front and rear main seals) and causing excessively high oil pressure

That does not sound like something that I would like to deal with! Ack... The reason I wanted this car on the road was so I could re-build my KA motor Not the other way around.

I'll have to do some searching today to see what I can do. I even read the FSM last night and couldn't find too much that would help me.

Do a compression or leak down test is better.... Cause it might not be your compression ring. You need to do a leak down test.

I could do the compression and leak down tests this weekend.

Will these work?

I still would like to see where the bloody donkey shit the oil is leaking from. I need more time, money, and energy damnit!
