SR 240sx v.s 3000GT vr-4/Sealth R/T

Do you think a 240sx (sr20) with all the mod's i have listed blow. Running at 10 psi would be about to beat a Dodge Sealth/Mitsu 3000GT(Bone Stock).

Question---Have you ever raced a supratt/300zxtt?

If you have they are about the same speed as a 3000gt.
How much hp are you putting out and do you have any 1/4 mi times?

No, i have not raced any of those cars. I had a rough 1/4 mile time, it was timed by my power meter I-D it was like in the low 14's at 15psi. How would the 3000gt/sealth r/t run as fast as the supra or the 300zx? 3kgt and the sealth weights almost 3800lbs?

Beating a VR4

Well.. if it is any teller.. A friend of mine has a 94 Supra TT 6spd and we have done both roll ons at ~35-115 and 0-60 runs.. and I can take him. up until my speedlimiter.. But he is pulling pretty hard at the top of my third gear and then ofcourse fourth.. So.. But with a good driver I think you should be able to take him.. Let me also say that I am running stock boost on my S13 Blacktop. RPS13

Hope this helps.

I think i should be able to beat the VR-4/RT due to the awd lose of power. I think the only thing that would get me is off the line on the launch but other then that, if I drive the best i should be able to pull on him.

VR-4s are nasty.. '94+ are 5.4(I'm pretty sure) 0-60, and a 13.2 1/4 mile.
You can't beat one unless they drive like ass. The AWD power loss is more than evened out by the AWD launch, which is nasty.

Yes a 4WD launches VERY good(at least from my experience). If you know of a VR-4 just go race him at a track. Done deal.

P.S.-I'm back!

Hardly any car is running exactly at stock numbers. The only way to figure out what he/she has is to put your **** on the line.

vr-4 at houston raceway park had the pass. seat removed, some aftermarket 17" rims, exhaust, a boost controller set at 15psi (I believe thats 1 psi over stock) and a blitz bov that didn't sound like it was blowing off, and he ran a best of a 12.9 and was consistantly running around 13 flat. Thats fast.
Probably faster than your car.
Now, if if were to race him for more than 1/4 mile, who knows, I've heard the vr-4's acceleration drops off your car is a lot lighter.
but like everyone said, its like 20 bucks a night for open runs... go out and race his ass.

people need to stop quoting fing motortrend and quartermiletimes.com and go out to your local track meet some people make some friends and watch and see what some of the actual cares do in the real world situations. The dodge stealth runing in perfect condition or say a 3000gt vr4 is some really good competition, however if you set up the sr20det with some good adjustable rear suspension and tires for drag and tune it and turn up the boost you should have no problem taking out a 3000gt. Just as a reference i add a second to whatever motortrend times cars. Then i know what an average street driver will do . I mean how in the hell did i beat a z06? they run 12.70 right??? i run 12.90??? cus it was motortrend bs.

Assuming you and him are both equally good drivers, then he will beat you. You're getting low 14's on 15psi, a 91-93 3000gt/stealth should get 13.8, and 94 and up should be roughly 13.6. So if you're on 10psi, then you almost definately won't win. It's almost a drivers race still, so you could still win if he's a bad driver or not tuned properly.

Although I'm not a fan of these "who can I beat" posts (can't we just all get along), I think I can say something about this, since I own a '94 RT/TT and have an SR I'm working on. I am buliding the SR to be much faster than my TT..so I've done some research.

At 10 PSI, it's not going to happen. The stock turbo'd 3Ss have more power at the wheel than you have at the flywheel at that point, and that's figuring the ~25% AWD loss.

At 15psi your T25 is supposed to making something like 235-250 at the wheels. I believe that's in the 13s..not the 14s. You'd have a chance if you want to boost that high, but it depends on how long of a race. Too short and the AWD will take you, too long and you'll top out at 120 while the mitsus are supposed to go to 155 or somewhere around there.

edit: I totally forgot the weight difference. Yes-3800 vs. 3000 is quite significant..but not significant enough for a 10psi win

Yeah the RT/TT will get up to 140-150.... When my bro got his we went out and did 140-150 in it..... To fast for street. Thats some scarry **** going that fast on a 2 lane road....

Anyways I know the RT/TT is guna kick ass on the launch. as for mid/high end race... If they have done anything to the car they will eat you. They can turn up the boost just as easy.

And for the high end race. If you hit 120 your done. they win, I dont care if you went to 120 faster.. they still win and can pass you. you need to do a speed cut. so you can go to 140. (Will our gearing even alow 140?) But still. we can speed cut and so can they.....

(I also think this who is faster then who is lame)

As my bro said to me. Once I get a turbo in He is just guna drop a 6k Supercharger in the Z06 and have 700hp!! No way I will ever beat that.

(I'ma guna spend 4k on a superbike.. then I can beat most cars)
