Well it looks like you already had a test pipe man, someone had hollowed out your cat to begin with. Because it should've had white ceramic inserts inside of it

or depending on how you meant the first message "kinda unclear" a test pipe won't have anything in it, it is hollow, you can make one by just putting a piece of pipe between your downpipe and your intermidiate pipe

That IS a catalytic converter, unless it's from an S14, in which case, it'll be hollow to begin with, as the cat is located in the downpipe.

edit: looking at your sig, I see you have an S14. It's a fake cat. hollow to begin with. You can still replace it with a test pipe, and maybe have a slightly better flowing exhaust (simply because the tubing size won't change as much).

why not just stay stock?

removing a cat's not worth enough power for it to be worth it in a street car.

Thank you! KEEP THE CAT! Replace that resonator that you took off with the test pipe so it doesn't go to waste, but the cat is worth MAYBE 3 hp...it takes about 10 hp to feel a difference, so think about that when you pass parents pushing their kids around in strollers as you spew your fumes into that infants lungs.

I have a SR and the difference w/o the cat was phenominal. Huge difference! Before the stock cat was old and clogged so I was getting a lot of backpressure and blowing out exhaust gaskets left and right. After gutting the cat there was no more backfiring and she revved soooo much easier.

But then again I have a turbo car...n/a you should keep the cat because the gains will be insignificant
