How to pull codes off an E5 ECU

I have an E5 ecu on my SR swapped S14 and when I go to check codes, the dash/check engine light does not flash to give me the code. I was told that there is a way to wire an LED light to the ecu so that I can get codes. Anyone know how or have the link that shows you?

p.s. I found one but it was in technobabble lingo above my simpleton wiring mind.
How to pull codes from an E5 blacktop ecu...anyone know?: SR20DET Forum (rear-drive): Nissan Forums / Infiniti Forums - NICOclub

If you can translate into english, I'd be very appreciative. Thanks

Also, can I do a straight swap from my E5 ecu to a red top ecu that does have an LED light? Or would it just be easier in the long run to wire one in?

Connect your check engine light wire pin #30 (95 Zenki) from the S14 F3 to pin #24 on your S13 SR harness.
