SR Call out all S14 Sr20det owners....weirdest shit on SR i ever known about engine

so i decided to take the spark plugs out today. i noticed that cylinder 3 has a weird ass feeling, very loose. I was like wtf, did i fuck up the threads? so i checked and there was no sign of fucked up threads, scraped off aluminum ect... so i called this shop and ask them "how much to fix a fucked up threads SR head" The guy laughed and asked me "Is it on cylinder 3? did you blow your Head gasket?" He was right on the dock, it's cylinder 3 and i have a blown HG. I asked him how he know. he said it very popular/comon on Sr head (cylinder 3) to feel like that when you have a blown HG.
Is it true what he said? All the S14 Sr20DET owners out there, do you have the same thing going on? feel like it cant be tighten down real good, very loose. and WHY?

So you said there is no sign of the threads being fucked up but you still called the shop asking how much to fix fucked up threads on an sr?

So are the threads fucked up or not? Can you still thread in a spark plug and torque it down to spec? And is it loose all the way down. What if you thread it in 3/4 of the way down. Is it still looser than the other 3 spark plugs?

And why are you specifying s14 sr owners? s13 and s15 have pretty much the same head design. s13 and s15 use the same stock composite head gasket that is prone to blowing when you increase the boost. Just pull the head off and change the head gasket to a metal one. Preferably an apexi one.

THat is TOTAL BULLSHIT

Is this the same shop that installed your plugs?

It sounds like they or whoever installed the plugs FUCKED UP and stripped your head.

Loose Threads are not a symptom of a bad HG.

THey are a symptom of a a stripped spark plug threads PERIOD, whether or not that was caused by something else that is yet to be discovered.

Shitty this is eitehr way you have to pull the head to get this fixed.

Sounds like they were doing shaddy stuff to try to squeeze money out of you right now for a head job.

A lot of shops are doing really shaddy stuff trying to hustle right now due to the economy being slow. In fact the bigger the shop the shaddier they are right now it seems

Not trying to jump to conclusions but I would love to hear who installed the plugs last

so no one else got their cylinder 3 loose like mine? look like my head got fucked, this was done at BlackTrax in Milpitas, Ca. It would be a waste of time to argue w/ them about the head. Instead i just fix this at else where. should i fix the bad head or buy another one? can it be fix? have this guy selling a blown long block for $450 shipped obviously the block is blown but the head is good. should i take it or fix the bad head?

After you get your bad head fixed, you should see about getting your bad grammar fixed.

So BlackTrax put the spark plug in and fucked up the thread or they just inspected it for you? If they did the swap and had the spark plug in there, I'd fucking raise some HELL.

Your are so right steve, I took my buddy's truck to the ford dealership today to get an oil change and this B!@#$ tried to come at me with some "Your air filter is bad and needs to be changed, your battery is dead and needs a new one, oh and the fuel filter it screwed all up." I told him, " I didn't ask you to check any of those things and the coupon is just for the oil change, do what your asked!". Then I called my buddy and told him about this BS, so we could crack jokes on them. (FYI, I'm an aviation mechanical) That **snip** got served.

Sigh, Do you have any fucking idea how a dealer ship works?

You the shit head customer talks with the service writer. The service writer then comes to the tech and hands them a ticket/P.O. Every dealership I worked at had some form of 18/32/64 point inspection with EVERY service.

So, The tech who worked on your car preformed said inspection. Found a couple of little problems and told you about them. I fail to see where he was a giant dick and offended you so greatly that you had to call your boyfriend to gab to him about it.

Also, If your such a bad ass aviation tech..... How can you not even change oil on a ford? You fail harder then the kid who put nos in his brand new gixxer.

Ontopic.

No, Someone along the road fucked up your head. Machine it, Or get a new one.

I just took my SR20DET swapped 510 into Blacktrax yesterday for some engine problems. (Bad Idle, Runs rich and smokes, Stutters under acceleration, falls on its face near redline) Should I even take it back? It is hella hard to find a competent shop around here!
