s13 Brakes don't fit!!

I upgraded to a z32 30mm caliper using a 350z track rotor and they don't fit under my work xd9's. 17" z33 stock wheels can fit them but the barrel of the xd9 is just a tad too small. It rubs ever so slightly.

So my question is if it would be ok to file down the higher points of the caliper to make it fit? Or if I should just sell the wheels and get a new set? If that's the case, does anyone know what aftermarket (work, ssr, volk) in a 17" that will work with this brake setup? I really don't want 18's on my s13

Spacer would be best if you can fit the tires under the fender the way you want. Otherwise plenty of people grind down the Nissan logo on the outside of the caliper. Your choice

wait a minute...are you saying that the actual BARREL rubs the caliper? (inside of wheel to outside of caliper)??? Because I was assuming you mean that the front of the caliper was rubbing the inside of your spokes.

If it's not the spokes rubbing then you have bigger problems...Maybe need 18"s or something with a different barrel design in 17"

No no no. The spokes are a-ok have nice concave with hella clearence. The top of the caliper rubs on the inside of the wheel...the barrel. Maybe 1.5mm too tall to tuck in there. I can fit the wheel on but the grinds on the inside of the wheel. I love my works and Id hate to sell em

man that sucks. I guess you have two choices. Grind down on the caliper. If shouldn't affect the caliper other than cosmetics as long as its not too much. Or get rid of the spacer and big rotor and go back to stock 300zx rotor.

Or third choice....buy different wheels. Those xd-9's must be have a weird barrel design. I know for sure evo/sti rotors are either same size or a little bigger than 350z track rotors. I fit my sti brembos with quite a bit of room still left on my fn01r-c.

get 3-5mm spacers and you'll be ok. the spacers should bring the rims out so that it wont touch the barrel no more. happens to me all the time when i'm switching rims around. i have to change spacers on depends on the rims i put on.

is the shape of the barrel such that it would help to move the wheel out a little (as in spacers)?? Or is it a constant size near the caliper?

If it's really only 1mm or so, I think you could get away with grinding a little material off the caliper.

I think Ima try grinding down the caliper. It just needs a slight trim. I just wanted to make sure it'd be safe to do so. Thanks for you input guys!!

You can have a local machine shop flycut the Nissan logo off and skim
a litte off the face to get clearance.
Would look decent too.

do you guys read?

the BARREL doesn't clear.

i mean it depends on how much filing you will do. 1 mm is the MAX you should file.

also, depending on where you got the adapters for the z33 track rotor, maybe whoever made them made them to sit the caliper a little too high. na mean?

i had this problem too.

FML..

fastest fix was getting 18s.
you could grind down the caliper.

a spacer might only help if the barrel is tapered. and only if the inside diameter of the wheel increases away from the face.

Did you not read the thread? There talking z32 with 350z rotors.

Get pic of the rubbing and then we'll answer all your questions.

[QUOTE=Marcus;3043393]i had this problem too.

FML..

Just like this but not as bad. I'd get 18's if it meant not grinding down those gorgeous calipers but mine are just z32's haha so it should be ok. I'll try to get a pic but no digital cam at the moment. Thanks guys

had the same problem. Caliper rubs the inside of the barrel. Spoke clearance is no issue

17x9.5 XD9's are built for use in rear. Apparently work didn't consider S-chassis owners' brake options.

get new wheels
