![]() Read something about it one time, forgot what it said, went back to read it and couldn't find it. Searched and couldn't find what I wanted.
Anyways, what are the limitations of getting JWT or another company to reprogram your ecu as compared to tuning and running a stand alone. Thanks. |

JWT = $500...plug and play...good power...runs rich
Standalone = $$$$...sorta plug and play, not really...great power...perfect fuel (with tuning $$$$) To squeeze max power from a standalone, expect to spend a ton of money at the dyno (into the thousands). If you just want to make good power, get a JWT and an S-AFC. Or better yet, get an Apex'i Power FC with Commander. Eric

No, I know all of that. I don't really see those as limitaitons. I thought there was something to do with boost. Some kind of draw back with boost using the reprogrammed ecu?

Glacier, there are no inherent limits to the fuel maps of the stock or JWT ecu. The problems you will encounter are when you flow more than the MAFS or injectors can handle. At that point, you can choose to piggyback the stock ECU, or tell JWT what you have and let them program it for you. The only obvious advantage to the standalone is that you pick the air metering method. If you want, you can change to a MAP sensor, which allows you to run a vented BOV without causing mixture problems. Of course, the standalone will also allow more control...but that's a given. Point is, there isn't a point where the stock or JWT computer just can't compute anymore (unless you go to like 10k rpm and the maps don't go that high). Eric
