Mine starts to squeek when I rev past 4500 rpm. I guess it should be time to change mine out?

A belt will sqeek if it too loose. I've been stold that there should be around a 1/2 inch of play. Just check each belt and see hoe loose or tight it is.

I've heard bad advice before but yours take the cake! And then you're condescending too!

Your belts make noise because they ----> are too tight.
i.e. belts in winter that are too tight make noise initially because they contract when cold- when car warms up they loosen a little and stop making noise.
answer: Loosen them to spec and no more noise. Tighter is not better- there should be some play in the belt. + Don't apply WD-40 or anything- it will weaken the belt and not really solve the problem.
so are you, condescending i mean. none of use are better than anyone else.

---basically, if you can, get a fsm to look through it.

the belt deflection is what you need to judge whether the belt is too tight or too loose.

belt deflection - is measured by pushing down on the belt at the point in between two pulleys. At that point, you push down with approximately 22lbs of force/98 Newtons/10kg.

The belt deflection for new belts are listed for the following points.

Alternator & Crank
.24-.28 inches

Water Pump/Powersteering
.256-.295 inches without Super Hicas
.217-.256 inches w/ Super Hicas

Air conditioner
.256-.295 inches

--------That should be a good guide for you to get the belt tightened correctly. Both a loose belt and a tight belt can cause problems.

There are specific tools to purchase for testing a belt, but I just hang a 10kg weight with some fishing line tied to it to test the deflection.

-Good luck.

last time my belts squeeked was becaue they were loose. i guess from the info above.. your belts are either too loose or too tight.. so try to get it just right..
