Vh45de/sc s14 standing mile top speed

Did a standing mile event this past sunday. The car performed flawless, easily hit the revlimiter about 700 feet before the end of the mile track and had to put it in neutral and coast the rest of the way.

They said i crossed the line at 162, but got me on hand held radar at 175 before i had to let off. Math wise the car is capable of 184 at redline in 5th so i guess there gun backs it up, car was stable at speed, i felt little to no lift in the front, i guess with that heavy v8 up there it helps. But 1st and 2nd gear where useless even on brand new 315s.

Anyway heres the video, you can hear where i hit the rev limiter right past the cones for 3/4 mile.

Hey that's cool.

After 88mph my tires fold under my car and it lifts into the air.

That's pretty cool.......I would be scared shitless though.....most cars that go that fast (Ferraris, Porches, Lambos, etc.) are designed with downforce......I am not sure how much downforce a 240 creates at those speeds....

A little air in the wrong place, create some lift......yikes.....I dunno, that would scare the shit out of me.....at that speed, it's easy for your whole car to turn into a wing.

You make a good point. I'm kinda curious what underbody magic was done with SW's Supra that did ~242mph in the standing mile. I heard it was stock aero other than the wing and front lip, but I never heard about the underbody.

What kind of aero/weight reduction did you have done? Nice to know you don't have to make ridiculous power to push your car to those speeds, despite what most people think.

Makes the LS-Auto 180mph speedo for the S13 justifiable

I wish i could have made it out to this, everyone i talk to that went loved it!

BTW in the video, is it just me or can you actually see the chassis/roof flexing from the downforce of 150+ MPH speeds, i know the camera is moving as well obviously.

You could easily do that calculation actually.

All you need is the speed, angle of the surface relative to the motion, density and viscosity of air, and surface area.....standard undergraduate fluid mechanics question haha.

But seriously, I would like to see someone have the downforce (or more likely, lift) on a "standard" 240 (without under panels, diffusers, crazy front end, etc.) at that speed....

Yup, Sw's car is stock. Its funny when I tell all my friends about it. Especially the part where he did 242mph in 5th gear. lol

Well there is some tape.

^^^ EDIT :

he made 246.x mph on his last run....proper gearing and proper tire/ rim choice...Also since he a 6-spd...his gear ratio are 1:1 in 5th...not like nissan's .79x in 5th...
