VLSD Confirmation question

I've been searching the past two days about JDM VLSD's and have one question. I bought a 6 bolt JDM VLSD (4.36 gear ratio) and was wondering if I can swap the VLSD center into the open pumpkin with open diff ring gear? I know you can with the J30 but I just want to be sure. And it would also work vice-versa correct, as in my friend could take his welded open diff and put the JDM ring gear and put it in the JDM pumpkin.

Thanks.

Ring gears are a diffenent thickness, Open Diff's ring gears are thicker.

why not swap the whole pumkin? just swap the axle spline

i was trying to retain the stock 4.08 gear ratio. I figured since you can swap the J30 VLSD into the open diff and ring gear that you could do the same with the JDM VLSD.

if the ring gear ratios were the same, you can swap in the diff and the ring, but like you said the gears are diferent.

alright, so I can't put the open diff ring gear on the JDM VLSD because the two ring gears are different thickness correct?
