i dont support or encourage city drifting (off track)

please go very late
make sure there are NO RESIDENTIAL AREAS!!! (very importnat)
be ready to pay $$ when you crash into something

please be safe.

street racers die from illegal car activities.
so do drifters.

Be safe bro, you should just wait for an event to show up. Be careful with your car, don't test it to much!

better than me. i'm in the 'trying to find a good place to practice' phase. the only place that is big enough, empty late at night, and without chance of being busted by the man is the mall parking lots, and they're full of rent-a-cops.

I found one place not to go...that is schools. Me and a friend of mine got into a lot of trouble when the cops showed up. Me in handcuffs, and my friend had a apb out for him. I got out of the arrest due to some friends in high places, but they can get you for reckless driveing. Just be carful and watch out for people that might call you in...now i'm also trying to find a new place...Such is life, drift on.

I find that the best audience to be had at the church lots is from around 9-12 on Sunday.. and depending on the church, you can get a pretty good crowd of people screaming you on in the evenings too.

Just make sure you limit yourself to only one or two appearances per church. :P

hahaha this is funny because i got in trouble for drifting (or attempting to) in a church parking lot. it is a wonderful place, huge lot with 4 light poles to drift around. it sits about a half mile off the road and is surrounded by woods and fields. we were there for exactly 12 minutes before the cops showed up. i got a ticket for reckless op, and it sucked. the cop even talked about how she used to do stuff like that in parking lots. it was dumb. but oh well, i learned my lesson.

Best place to learn drift is autocross... you won't have the best times of course... and you might get "the talk"... but hey cones don't hurt as much as curbs and poles and you'll know how to REALLY control your car!!!

I agree with dousan... please save us from your potential mistakes... and don't go to the togue unless you're ready!!!

SEATBELTS remember or be remembered!!!

Should I even answer this one...

Don't do it man... don't you know drifting = noise = attention from those in your immediate area = cops in your face writing you a ticket!!!

Just wait until it rains and go to a mall parking lot for a quick fix... they usually have large lots... or venture to the industrial part of town...

I'd just say keep it off the street man... but if you really need to wait and have a midnight slide session in a lot or space far far away from cops!!!

Just be safe...

yep iEATrice is right
keep it off the streets
yeah i know track events are hard.

best bet is get your *** organized and rent a place w/a group of poeople. or make friends w/ a lot owner or better yet, make the trek to a track.

on the streets=evening news=bad rap=cops will know=you get reckless driving/endagerment and worst: exhibition of speed! OUCH!!!

this isnt japan. this isnt HI, this is the mainland usa. keep it off the streets!

yea..Def. be safe!..and buckle up..and $$$ is a good thing for backup when u crash..i already did i juss saved up 1600 bucks..so im good to repair the car! or i can always leave the car the way it is..and fix my alignment at least so i can drive straight..and buy a Nismo SSS hrmm... haha..even tho i crashed it..i can still drive it fine..juss mainly body damage

its good to keep it off the streets...since events dont happen everyday..u need to practice somewhere..so going out late in a parking lot is good. cant hurt nobody when ur out of nowhere but urself. im still trying to find me a good parking lot to practice late at night..and when i mean late..i mean like 2am hehe..im a night person blaahh

Kids on the east coast are kinda like the skateboarders...They skate in places they're not suposed to cause there's no skate park...Hence, no events to go to so we have to settle for the open road. I have a few places...But they aren't in town...Industrial parks, the mall parking lot at night (there's bad a$$ paint guided turns in the back) and then a few nice windy roads w/15mph turns and such...Ohh yeah, the airport. There's a nice nice sharp right w/good left hand clearance before the grass.

Wait a second...I can't believe the amount of people on this fourm can't really drift. I mean, it took me a few trys in the early days untill I got the whole counter steering goin on (about a week). But yeah, drifting a 240 is pretty damn easy to other cars I've driven.

Slow your roll young padawan... so are you saying that you are D1 material here? Drifting is about control... if you are that gifted great... but please understand that to drift is to break all of the norms that most drivers are used to.

Don't knock these people for trying to learn...

Honestly... I have a hard time believing your are as good as your words seem to say... one week of countersteering does not mean drifting!!!

QUESTION: can YOU really drift???

sorry to burst bubbles. but not anyone acn sign up for d1
if you understand how D1 works in japan its run relatively same here

basically INVITE only.

there will be one US driver, and they willb e selected by Moto (my guess) and Drift Association, for they will be working closely w/ the US D1 organizers.

as far as drifting.

Fastback180
i dont know how good you are or what LSD (if any) you are using.

but for me, i've been drifting for about 6 months now and i wouldnt say im "good" im so so beginner. i can do some 3rd gear, but primarily top of second banging off redline, some choku dori going in or a nice sideways straightline and link 5-6 corners relatively ok and smoothly. i am not super consistent but i can be at times. i dont think im great. because im not. i suck. i still have lots to learn. drifting to me, isnt about IM BETTER THEN YOU or "omg i cant believe you cant do that!". to me its about learning and helping fellow drifters and beginners learn more. if someone wants some help hey i'll help where i can. if someone wants to ride in my car, by all means grab your helmet and hop in. i dont think anyone here is in the right to knock or poke fun at people.

as far as what iEATrice said, yah anyone can counter steer. crud you do that on donuts! its great to know and its vital. putting that to the track and working on lines, weight transfer, balance shifting, various techniques...that's drifting. going fast and keeping a VERY fast speed during drifts, that's skill. a driver can go drift a corner, but they might lose LOTS of speed. the skill it maintaining that high speed playing with lines making it clean smooth and fast as well as have complete control of car and a skilled driver can do it over and over and over and over....and over again with ease.

d1 drivers can take the same line drift the entire day and nail it on the dot everytime.

but then again that's about 10 years of SOLID probably 4 days a week of drifting

for me to start drifts at 100mph is not likely for sometime hahahaha....

drifting to me. making friends having fun and learning!

sounds like a book report...

yes dousan... you're reading my mind... this "I'm better than you" mentality is what has flawed the street racers and ricers out there in the world... it is natural to be competitive... but we should help out everyone that wants to learn!!!

Drifting is definitely making friends and having fun!!!
