^ What purpose does it serve? Possible reason for car not running?

It's the dropping resistor for the automatic transmission. You can find it in the FSM if you looked hard enough.

This part affects how firm your auto shifts.

I already answered your question. No need to make multiple threads.

^ that other thread was made before you answered my question.

Anyways. So it only affects shift pressure? Just wondering because I am having problems with car starting and staying running (without moving). It looks like it has a wire going towards front of car after plug, where else does it plug into? or does it stop there and my eyes are playing tricks on me?

Car was in accident. Long story its in one of my other threads. Thanks for your help.

BTW I dont own a fsm or have one downloaded.

The dropping resistor would not affect start up or drivability. You'll just have firmer shifts with it unplugged, which will eventually damage the transmission.

Maybe this is why:

It takes 5 minutes on Google to find any number of sites that host the FSM.

Are you lazy and/or stupid?

You would think with you being around this community so long you would have more respect for someone.

I understand the car doesnt run due to accident and I am slowly trying to figure out the problem.

Distributor cap was cracked and plug was crushed by radiator. I tried individually putting connectors one each wire and plugging them into correct pin on dizzy and the car started but wouldnt stay running when I hit the gas, it was idling around 600 seemed like it was wanting to stall.

Car has
5k on rebuilt motor
New plugs
New plug wires
New dizzy
New water pump
New battery
Good alternator
Good starter
Checked all grounds
Swapped ecu
All fuses are good
Getting fuel
Getting spark

I am assuming for some reason its the wires on the dizzy I am in the process of getting a new plug

Also I do not like downloading things onto my computer. I will buy the FSM when I have a chance, just have not had time with work/school/recovering from accident not to mention many other things such as bills.

If you have any constructive help please post up from what I have read you are a tech? (read that somewhere on a google search in a thread)

Just in case you want it spoon fed, here's two different places you can download/(look at) FSM's.
Enjoy it, and go get your hands dirty.

you don't like downloading things onto your computer but you are posting threads asking the internet for advice.

wtf did you think was going to happen. stop being lazy, download the spoon fed fsm and fix your own damn car.

the amount of time you've spent posting here could have already had the fsm downloaded and been working.

You're a jackass. I am fixing my own car, I figured I would post up to see if anyone had some similar problems or quick advice before I spend hours and hours trying to figure out the problem sorting through every little aspect of the car, which not to mention if you read above I do not have much time on my hands at the moment.

Thank you for your ignorant post.

Thank you for your ignorant post.
i fix my own car too. i download my own fsm. i search all the forums for my own answers. i don't ask for free handouts.

this thread started to identify a plug. solved. now you switch gears and want help fixing your car. time wasted. download the fsm, look at the troubleshooting sections and start eliminating things one by one. it sounds like you maybe got started on that one little aspect so far.

i know exactly what you and everyone expects when they post threads like this. a fast/free answer. like someone else just had the IDENTICAL problem to you 30 seconds ago and his advice can fix your car.

guess what he probably had a thread about it, so if you searched...BING

I thought the same, but I checked all vacuum lines and they are all connected no holes or anything.

Plenty of people have simliar problems and maybe they had the same problem and solved it and could probably offer some advice.

I suppose there shouldn't be a tech section then and everyone that has ever asked a question is stupid.

Get out of the thread you have no constructive advice.

I also did search.

O btw since your such a genius. Every "I" should be capitalized along with every letter at the beginning of a sentence.

You contradict yourself. You say why post threads looking for a fast free answer and no one has had the same identical problem, and there advice couldnt help fix my car. Then you go on to say someone probably had a thread about it and if I searched I would find the answer assuming your (BING) meant "answer".

if they've had similar issues, and solved it, why didn't you find their threads?

a real tech thread would be (in this order):
1. this is my problem/these are my symptoms
2. i've searched
3. i've consulted the fsm
4. i've tried this and this and this and this...for however many things you've tried.
5. these are the results to my trials.
6. is there anything i'm missing or doing wrong?
7. any pics or additional pertinent info

according to that outline, you've accomplished 2 out of 7 things. and that's being nice. simple math yields (with rounding) that the success of your initial tech thread is 29%! that equals FAIL.

my capitalization skills have nothing to do with your argument. i also never said i was a genius.

i never said "why did you post this thread." i said "i know WHY people post threads LIKE these." you fall into the latter category. so i did not contradict myself.
