240sx, wont start AGAIN

Ok, I posted day before yesterday as my 240sx would not start. Took the battery to Autozone, checked out fine and charged it for me. After tightening some wires to the starter everything worked fine. Yesterday I started it maybe 5 times, and each time it took longer and longer to turn over.

So I get in it this morning and nothing. Th clicking sound I heard earlier this week between the two front seats is gone. All electronics work fine, whe I turn the key I hear one click from hte engine bay and that's it. It clicks every time I turn the key.

Im just in a tough position as I just lost my job, and my company car. My 240sx has been sitting for a while, but drove fine all day yesterday besides start up taking a few seconds.

So Im thinking
Starter
Solenoid <- where is this located and how do I replace/test it?
bad wires somewhere.

I jsut am baffled as it worked fine yesterday. I think maybe the starter was going bad yesterday and just quit today?

Any help would be great

YouTube - VIDEO_006.mp4 <- latest video, there are two others to show what happened monday.

Check the connection at the signal wire to the starter solenoid. The solenoid is a part of the starter assembly. It's the small wire that goes to the starter and has a connector rather then an eye and a nut. Another common cause of 240's not starting is the ingition switch (electrical part, not the tumbler). With the way they are designed the crimps come loose and it loses connection intermittently. You can remove the switch, press it together, and carefully use a hammer and a screwdriver to re-crimp it tighter. This is usually only a band-aid though and will not work forever. The best thing is to replace the switch of course.

i would start easiest solutions first - try jump starting. if it turns over with a jump, clearly weak battery. either its not charging properly (alternator issue - my guess btw) or you're draining out over night (parasitic drain - faulty wiring somewhere).

if you still get nothing but clicks with a jumpstart, then worry about the starter. you can bypass using it entirely by push starting the car. alternatively, sometimes you can get it to work if you hit it with a hammer.

oh, and make sure your battery connections are clean and tight. my gf's rx7 used to enjoy frustrating all of us by not starting and just clicking. spent hours checking over the car and it turned out to be nothing more than a bad connection to the negative terminal.
