Next subject....Coilovers :) JIC vs. Cusco Round 2
Since there was so much interest in the first topic I might as well start this one, FLTA2 or Cusco Coilovers, I have my mind pretty much made up on getting JIC Coilovers, but I see the cusco's all over option 2 magazine, looks like Cusco won the strut bar battle, even though JIC has a pretty beefy looking bar, now its onto the coilover, I have no knowledge or experience with teh cusco coilovers, so all input is appriciated

Why can't he say drifting? Maybe he actually interested in learning and starting auto x events and drift events. Not everyone is a "poser" and some people want to become real drifters and no longer the "internet drifter". Don't knock the guy cause he's jumping on a growing trend.
just my .02 cents ![]()

It's going to be a straight track car used for circuit racing after i get my scca license, and I am most likely going to use it for drift events on some occasions for fun, thats why I picked two adjustable coilovers, and if its a trend your worried about I've known of drifting since before I was 16, 19 now, and have been into circuit all my life, I just fall short of knowledge on the mechanical side of things, thats why im asking

go cusco
high quality. and has US offices. get the top of the line cusco too. dont get the lower ones. i say top cusco because lower cuscos would be worse the JIC FLTA1 and A2 top of the lin cusco (i want to say Comp-2R??) is very high quality. |

aren't the newest Cuscos the "Zero" line? ... hmmm IIRC, Comp-1 and Comp-2 are the older versions, which have since been replaced with Zero-1 and Zero-2. ... or maybe I got it mixed up... but I'm pretty sure that's how it is.
The Comp series were all multicolored and gay (rainbow) looking. The Zero-series is much more professional looking. Good stuff. |

you can get the flta2's shipped for under 1500 if you look hard.
I have them, and love them. I track my car a lot, and it was easily the most worthwhile improvement to my suspension. I haven't heard of a single FLT-A2 owner that wasn't 100% satisfied. I will tell you that they are quite punishing on the street. With the dampers set on anything but full soft, your kidneys and back receive quite a pounding. I think this will be true for any setup with a spring rate in excess of about 5-6kgmm (~250-300lbs) I would also recommend not buying used coilovers unless you can visually inspect them yourself in person for flaws or defects. If coilovers aren't taken care of properly, they wear out very fast. A set with only 5K miles could easily be on the verge of blowing out. Plenty of people do it, but it's risky, and you get no warranty. If you plan to race your car is SCCA, what class/series? Improved Touring doesn't allow coilovers. Matter of fact, I don't know of a single SCCA series that the 240 fits in, that allows coilovers.

If you plan to race in SCCA wheel to wheel I would look into ground control. On the GC website it doesnt mention their 240sx suspension being compatable with Koni, but I think there is a way to get the two to work together on our cars. The GC/Koni combo is proven and would be within the rules.
