Having been in the insurance industry myself (not auto insurance) I've realized the biggest asset is an agent that wants to find you the best deal. The agent I've had for the last 4 years or so writes for a whole mess of companies (30+ I believe) so he compares rates for all of them and finds you the best deal ~ he's been a good enough guy that I recommend him to all my friends.

For what it's worth, I'm currently insured through a premium plan with Safeco, and couldn't be happier.

If you have a good record. Check out Wawanesa. Great company when I had no points on my driving record.

agree'd, most people want to resolve it, by paying if off rather then going
through insurance.

I'm insured via Safeco as well.

My driving record is dismal though.
3 points & some accidents throughout the years.
I have liability on a 96 240sx, and comprehensive on a 08 evo.
Insured under Los Angeles (not good).

I pay $330/month.
I need to browse for better rates.

If basic liability is all you want, just find the cheapest company out there. Liability will only cover the other party your involved in an accident with anyways. So who cares about the plus or minuses.

Just remember the California minimum requirement is 15,000/30,000/5,000. If you caused more than 5,000 in damages to the other car, you are responsible for the difference. Also, liability only coverage doesn't take care of any damage to your own vehicle if you are at fault.

Advantages and disadvantages only come into play when you're choosing comprehensive coverage.

honestly, for an older car it's not worth going comprehensive imo.
even if the insurance company does pay you, it's going to be peanuts.
you'll end up losing a lot more $ in the long run.

yeah i have liability right now, dont have any accidents but only 1 point on my record, and it works best for me, cuz when they ask for my mileage on the car, its in kilometers, so they figure i am not driving as much

I was insured through Mercury, and I was paying $60 a month for just liability. That was the cheapest shit I've ever seen in my life. It went back up to $90 though when they found my second speeding ticket.

When I get my license back, as well as a car, I'm thinking about going through AAA because of all the hassle free DMV stuff you can get. Plus being a member and getting the towing packages and stuff.

Sup ray!!

But what he said, so i recommend going AAA so u get the added benefit of skipping DMV cluster-fucks for vehicle type transaction and doing them through AAA, minus getting a new drivers license.

I've been doing title transfers, registration, etc.... at AAA, plus all the discounts you can get if your a AAA member.

Not sure if they will be the cheapest but you'll definitely get the most bang-for-your-buck.

I have 6 points on my driving record atm. Google: (westcoast insurance) They're an agency with in the insurance companies. They'll find you the best quote out of different insurance companies within their region. For 1 car I pay 70ish a month liability. Not bad, especially with my record. Imagine what they can do for you, having less points or none.

me and my girl have progressive liability that we got going thru an agent. We are insured under my 98 Kouki and my 95 sc400. Cost us 95 bucks a month. Not bad considering im insured under two cars for 50 and she is for 45.

Your right Ray. I've cooled down quite a bit. Judge stamped me as negligant driver. I helped a couple lawyers on their cars in the past, so they helped me out with the judge.

I need to jump on the 510 boat though. Having smog to be one less thing to worry about.

That's the misconception. Us 510 guys with swaps can still be reffed, because i know about 3 guys that have. It's the motor that needs to be smog exempt. A bunch of officers that even know that. lol
