injector removal
Does anyone know where I can get a step by step guide to removing an injector on a SOHC motor?
I just saw today that I have a little fuel around my first injector so I am going to try and replace the o-rings and see if that fixes it but I cannot find how to take off the injector. Can someone help me out? Thanks

Hmm, not sure where a step by step is, even the FSM isnt super clear on it, but does help.
It’s pretty straight forward. Do a search because my instructions are for a 91, but they should be similar, also there should be a good detailed explanation in the search somewhere. 1. Pull the fuse to the fuel pump, start car and let it die. 2. Find the In Feed and Return Feed Fuel Lines and pull them off the Guides. Also remove the small line near the firewall. Unplug all injectors. 3. Loosen a few 10 and 12mm bolts and a hard to find on that is close to the firewall below injector #4. Id suggest you get a swivel attachment for your ratchet. 5. Pull Fuel Rail. This is a quick reply, so there might be some loose ends. Getting it back on is the frustrating part. You have to sorta force it on there (it wont seat into the engine) then tighten everything from there. |

Thanks for the reply. I searched and all it basically said was like unscrew the two screws and pull the injector out. (Thats from what I read a couple hours ago so that might be unclear.) And i was still unclear about the whole thing so I posted it up.
Ok is it easier to pull the whole rail off or just take out the one injector?? Any tips on putting them o-rings back in since some people screwed up and made the leak worse. Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

Ive never delt with the O rings so I cant help you there. PS: Be careful taking the fuel lines off, I pulled mine off and it let go to fast and my pinky slamed against something and broke my whole nail in half. ![]() If I get some time I will look in my FSM to see how you take the injectors out, IIRC you have to twist and pull. I tried that but didnt want to hurt anything. |

Yeah I hate when you are taking off something and your hand goes flying and hits something. When I was changing my fuel filter I cut my hand pretty bad but didnt relize it till their was blood all over the filter and gas and dirt and stuff on my hand who knows what got in there.
But if you could let me know what the fsm says I would be so very greatful. Scanning it would rule even more but not everyone has a scanner though.
