LSD Technicalities

Okay for the past 3 months I have been narrowing down my search for an LSD. I've decided on a 2 way clutch type unit. I am going to purchase either the Tomei T-Trax or the advance unit. I had a few questions about the LSD itslef and the install.

1) With this kit are the sidesahfts 6 bolt or 5 bolt? Also, my 91 S13 is open diff, which half shafts do I need? I am really confused on this topic of sideshafts (are they called axles too??) because I dont understand wether the 5 or 6 bolt difference is a variable with my current halfshafts or wether its variable with the LSD kit. I am SOOO confused.

2) I have been told that the LSD I want will fit in the US spec diff cover (because dousan's SSS fit, and this one is very similar; ruf told me Aaron) however I have also been told that the JDM diff cover is much better to use because it holds a larger capacity for oil and has cooling fins and also that the drain plug faces downward. This is all SOUNDS useful, but is it really necessary???? I plan on tracking the car 1-2 times a month and it is my sole daily driver. I know you have to change the diff oil every 3k miles with this type of LSD, and does that remain true with the USDM diff cover too, or is it more frequent?

Thank you for your help everyone, and sorry for the long post.
