Sr blown intake manifold
Okay guys quick question what are the symptoms for a blown intake manifold gasket? while merging onto traffic and having to give it full throttel a cloud of black smoke flutter behind follwed by bad breaking up and idling leading to the car cutting off. Then while checking it, I found it blew the throttle body gasket loose and it twisted by hand. It wouldnt idle or make any boost then after sraying it with soapy water it kinda fixed itself which makes me believe its a manifold leak. Because it wont idle after giving it boost it dies and it wont move either like a boost leak. I just wanna know what it could be cuz i tried to help my boy out but I'm not sure if this is it or not and engine is fine no knocking smoke or blow threw and still has good compression.
I am pretty sure thats what the problem is but I wanted fellow zilvians input since everythign under the sun has happened to the cars on here, I just cant google the symptoms exactly. Thanks guys.

Dont spray your IM with soapy water... at idle the turbo system is under vacuum so your just sucking soapy water into your engine.
If the T/B gasket is blown then replace it and then check it. I doubt the other I/M gaskets blew seeing that they are metal gaskets.

i told you running all that NAAAWWWWWWWWZZZZ was gonna blow the welds on your intake
![]() couldn't help myself ![]() fix what you know is messed up then go from there. and i agree, use carb cleaner spray instead of soapy water to try to find vacuum leaks. Dave

if you think theres another leak besides the gasket... spray carb cleaner around... when you hit the leak your revs will climb...

fixed it yayness! sucks tho from the car sitting in the cold for so long condensation got to the VC. The filter for the PCV was wet and its a mess. No smoke out the exhaust compression the same and once it warmed up it was fine, time to redo the PCV system. Spraying water on it prolly aint help either cuz it got on filter element on the PCV.
Basically I fixed his car but I was freaking cuz at first seemed like a gasket went then did some googling and found it. Thanks guys
