problems with leaving off aiv hose

Are there any? I have came to the conclusion that the reason for the bad idling is because the aiv needs to be cleaned but for now i just removed the hose. I do not think there will be any problems with leaving the hose off for a couple days because i have heard of people making custom intakes and not attaching it.

So my question is, is it ok to leave the hose off and not connected to the intake?

Thanks in advanced

That would leave a hole in the airbox for unfiltered air to enter the engine.

ok, i'm going to clean it, is it the black plastic box, or is it the metal thing behind it that needs to be cleaned out. I have read about it but wasn't sure which one was the actual AIV.

The black plastic box is just a resonator, it's there to equalize the pressure (for the AIV to work, air pressure in that box has to be higher than the pressure in the exhaust).

You clean the metal thing that the box feeds. You can take it out and take it all apart, but likely all you need to do is open up the top (there should be a clamp holding down a round cover.. undo the clamp and gently pop off the round cover). There will be a spring loaded valve attached to the round cover. Mine was all gummed up.
