Clunk?
OK, this is a fairly vague question, but for now I'm stumped.
![]() First off I have a stock 89 fastback with an alleged 121000 miles. Only mod is new PDM poly TC bushings 'cause the old ones were cracked. For the past couple days my car has made a "CLUNK" sound when coming to a complete stop. This sound seems to originate from the front of the car near the cross member. This sound also seems to only come when the car is warm and makes more of a sound if I come to a stop where I am going to turn right. I just went under the car to check and see if any of the bushings are shot, or a bolt had come off. But everything looked good. It started making this sound after I got back from an 2 and a half hour road trip with my friends and the car was loaded with stuff. It *seemed* that on my return trip that the car did not stop as well as it used to(This may be imagined, because there was stuff in the car.) I am just seeing if anyone else had a clunking noise, and if so, what was the culprit? -Matt ![]()

... or perhaps my car is ****tier than everyone elses?
I have been driving it around trying to determine the sound and it is very weird. It doesn't make the clunk when I load the suspension when taking a hard corner. because of this I don't think it is the shocks, although I could be wrong. It only happens at random stops, and only when I have come to a complete stop. If I slam on the brakes while moving to put weight on the front of the car, there is no clunk. I am stupified by all of this. If no one else has had a similar problem I guess i will just ignore it. -Matt ![]()

mine makes a good clunk noise when the right weight transfer happens... I've been told that it has to do with the subframe bushings. I just ordered spacers so we'll see if it solves anything.
