I have an 89 240 w/ an auto tranny.

When I move it from park to drive or reverse or any gear, it does nothing. I can hear the idle change a little, but the car doesn't move. I checked underneath and the linkage is connected. What else could it be?

i had a customer with that problem once, it was a blown differential with compound planetary gearset and called for a rebuild. another was the torque converter and required the same remedy (in that particular case).
