Sr20 det- blowing out the spark/rev limiter symptoms problems?
So me and my friend spent all weekend putting his SR20DET and transmission in his S14 kouki, he installed a Garret GT28 on it and he is having problems now.
The car is running a stock tune, boost controller is a greddy profec b spec 2 I believe and when he pushes anything higher than 6psi, at about half throttle and 4000 rpms seems like he hits the rev limiter or he blows out the spark, the wideband sensor just went bad so we don't know if the car is running lean or what, but it's something the car wouldn't do when he had the stock turbo on it. Any input would be awesome guys. Thanks a lot. Also, let me know if you guys need more details, I have tried to described it the best since it's not my car and I'm not the one who drives it but I have put a lot of time and effort into this car and I would love to see it run perfect. Thanks again. |

Wow your friend really needs to do some reading.
You can't just slap a bigger turbo on a stock car with stock injectors and stock MAF and expect it to work.

Sounds like a boost leak. check all couplers replace with T-bolt clamp. Pull on and all IC piping make sure its all tight. I had this same problem i had cheap regular c-clamps and had a leak. seamed like it hit the rev limiter. Replaced all clamps with t-bolt. problem solved.

the other day i was having boost issues. i kept checking over and over for every possible problem it turns out the vacumm line for the wastegate was pinched inbetween the coolant hose and fan shround.
just throwing that out there it could be many things you might just skipped pull out all the vacumm lines and inspect if you have to |

Dumbass, who cares about boost? You know nothing about turbocharging obviously if you make a statement like the one above. A T28 at 7 psi probably makes 240 hp or so, which is what a T25makes at like 14 psi....meaning the bigger turbo flows the same amount of air at a lower psi than the small turbo at more psi. So that being said, YES you can max out stock injectors/MAF on a T28 in the 7-8 psi range.

![]() Well McFly, If you know T28's flow more air, then why do you think 7psi is 7psi is 7psi across the board? Boost is not a measure of airflow. While possibly unrelated, check this out as well: How To Tune Your Greddy Profec B spec II - evolutionm.net
