Hey guys, this is my situation.

I recently had to brake hard and it was working then the pedal hit the floor. However, it then goes back up (master cylinder is ok). So I eventually got it home. Next day, lots of brake fluid all over the driveway. So I decided to check the lines, refilled some brake fluid and pumped the brakes to find out where the leak was. Well, its the right front brake line. But its rusted out bad. It's the line that runs from the master cylinder, across the firewall, down the chassis and into the wheel well. Right where it meets the firewall/chassis is where it effectively squirts me in the face.

Question is, how hard is it to replace this specific line? Is this little beast expensive?

What are stainless steel braided lines? Is that like the whole line from the cylinder to the brake itself?

pull off the line and go to autozone and get a replacement line. i'm not sure what size it is, but you could ask one of the guys there to match it up for you. you can get a line that is already flared and has fittings on it. all you have to do is bend it to fit in the same location. be careful not to kink the line.

stainless steel lines are to replace the flexible rubber lines by the wheels, just from the hard lines on the frame to the calipers. not anything you really need to worry about.

Get a tubing bender or go to a shop that has one...you are sure to kink it without one...I know...I "did".

Yes, autozone can get them (special ordered) or go to a junkyard, about $5-10 per line there, if you can find an intact one not bent or cut.

I'm surprised no one mentioned hitting the junkyards for an already bent line. All you need to remove it is a 12mm flare nut wrench (though a regular wrench will work) and maybe a screwdriver to press back the plastic clips holding it to the firewall.

JUNKYARD!!!!! But, if you've done it before, it's pretty easy to bend a hard line. But it takes some practice to make it look OEM.
