Cost of replacing windshield

About how much does replacing the front windshield cost at a shop, specifically for an S13? Thanks.

Free if you have insurance and its cracked by a "rock" (by rock I really mean a nail hammered through the windsheild )

Actually it would not be free cause you still have to pay for your deductible on your insurance. And if you have a $500 deductible then you might as well just pay for the windshield. In less you have a really cheap deductible.

I was on the understanding that windsheild replacement is non-deductable. I can't be for sure though cause it was the last owner that had it replaced. Most of the windsheild places around here even give you a box of steaks for going to them, cause they know that its free for you

Your insurance company has to replace your front windshield free of charge. They cannot ask you for deductible or anything. I just got mine replaced for free about a month ago.

A rock hit me on highway going 80 mph. small crack, but enough to make me worry driving. I called my agent (STATE FARM) they gave me a # to call and those peeps came to my work and changed in less than 2 hrs. oh yah STATE FARM also paid 25 dollars to me for having to put the SUN STRIP on the windshield like i had before. THAT WAS COOL TOO>......

Other states may be different.

Sorry this is a little off topic, but did not want to start a new thread. On my S13 the piece that lines the windshield (the black strip) has came loose and his hanging out. I have pushed it back in but it comes right back out. So my questions is does anybody know of a quick fix for this.
Thanks!!!

Question

Thanks for the responses. I was asking because I'm thinking of buying an S13 that has a big crack in the windshield, and will obviously need to replace it.

My next question: will insurance cover the cost of replacing the windshield if the crack was already on it when I got the car?

Edit: Oops. This is Danio. I'm on GotDriftS14's computer and forgot to logout first.
