KA and 5 speed swap going bad

I have an 89 240SX that was previously and automatic. I put the drive train out of a 91 Hicas edition car into the 89. The swap went OK and all the 5 speed stuff is mounted but the wiring is problematic. I looped the female blade connections like I was instructed to by the swap pages but the car wouldn't start and when I pulled the fuse box cover the ALT 75 Amp fuse was blown. I replaced it and put the neg battery terminal back on and it blew again. When I bridge the fuse and touch the neg terminal it sparks and the battery almost blows up. It does this when I use the auto (pos battery/starter/alternator) wiring and the 91's wiring as well. How can the wiring be that screwed up, both harnesses came out of a 240???? Is there something to a 5 speed AND KA24DE swap that I am missing??

I just dont understand this at all. I disconnected everything except the starter wiring, put in a new starter, put in another stock M/T harness and still it does the same thing. Someone please for God sake help me. What's happeing? I have been working on this same damn thing for days.

That part of it seems to have little to do with the problem. Even with the blade connections plugged in as their suposed to be or unplugged and untampered with the problem is still there. When I look at the dash it's all messed up too unless I disconnect almost everything. I'm considering getting rid of my alarm wiring or swapping in the 91 doner cars fuse and relay box even though either is a lot of work. I'm going to try one more time to isolate the problem and I'll let you know.

Check the wire on the back of the alt and make sure it is not touching the housing. Mine was and it was doing the same as what you are describing. If not then check all the wiring to be sure nothing that shouldnt be hitting ground is hitting ground!

That was it Allen, thanks for that reccomendation. I must have broken that plastic guard off when installing the motor. It broke off so cleanly that I didn't even notice. Now that I've kept the battery from blowing up in my face, I just have to find that fuse and see if I can get the car to start. Thanks guys!

What connector are you talking about? Where is it located?

Locate the body harness that attached to your old harness. Cut the old connector off (the one that attached to your SOHC harness) and attach your DOHC body harness connector

it's the body harness connector that comes up from the ECU and attaches to the dash wiring
