Guys I've taken on the task of painting my car myself. I bought a body kit some time back and I've been working on that getting fitment good and fixing the cracks it had in it from the PO. That's going pretty good and everything and now I've gotten my 240 sitting in my garage and I'm starting sanding. I want to pull out the rear quarter windows on both sides and replace the trim around the front and rear glass. I know the rear glass trim is an easy job so I took it out. The rear side windows however are proving to be confusing. I've looked on the nissanparts.cc site and it seems you can't buy replacement trim for those windows. My trim at the top has over the years started to pull away from the body maybe a half a cm or so and I'm wanting to do a good job painting this car so maybe someone in here can tell me if it would be easiest to just remove the window to fix it or is there a way to somehow push it back?

I pulled mine. There are 3 plastic push fittings in the corners, and black silicone holding the window in.
First I made a couple plastic wedges and started in the door pillar, slowly prying the glass from the silicon and popping the plastic fittings. I was time consuming, but worked perfect.
As far as mine went, the original trim was cleaned, re-used ans sealed back down with fresh silicon. There was alot of dirt between the glass and trim from over the years, once it was cleaned out the trim fit much better.

If you're unsure on doing the qtr windows. Honestly, i would have a professional glass removal guy do it for u. It will save u the headache from sourcing a new window in case it cracks upon removal. Just my opinion tho.

Pull out the interior around the windows and use a carpet utility knife to cut the black shit behind the window that holds it in. Then cut along the front side and slowely pry out. There's 3 tabs as stated, onw in each corner. Good luck

Guitar strings do work but often damage the window trim/ paint. I've removed 3 qp's with nothing but a carpet knife, utility knife, and a long exato knife. The trick is to cut out a easy section, the pry out the window just a touch and that puts tension on the silicone so you just need to "touch" it with a utility knife to cut itt

is this for all 240s, S13, s14, etc.? I thought about doing the same on my s14 when I repaint it.

Anyone know how to fix the roof molding that runs the length of the roof? It's pulled away on mine and couple others I've seen.

the black silicone is such a pain to deal with. i used a exacto blade and slowly worked my way around the window. just be care and dont rush because these windows only have a little flex until they shatter lol. ive took out 3 perfectly fine but the 4th didnt survive haha

Much easier to just pay a professional. But to do it right you need the tools that they use which is...
Sawzall with what looks like a putty knife attachment and the quarter glasses will come out in no time.Then need to clean off the extra Window weld URETHANE and apply a liquid primer over the area where new urethane is to be applied.
Also you must R&I the front and rear glass to correctly apply the new glass molding. I would suggest buying OEM nissan moldings there as they fit around the corners and just plain look the best.

Got the rear Quarter windows out no problems using a razorblade, 2 flat head screwdrivers and some patience. Used a wire wheel to clean off the old glue residue left on the chassis and the rest attached to the window rubber came off pretty easily. Now to get it cleaned up and finish my prep work before painting.
