s13 S13 SR20 Convertible?

I found convertible s13 for a good price ($300) needs a fender, hood, and headlight. My question is: Would the convertible be a worthwhile conversion candidate? I've heard that they are heavier and more flexible. Would a roll cage and mods make up for it?

Any input would be appreciated.

well considering the car cost 300 bucks, you would be a fool to not buy it to begin with. but ya, if i got my *** spanked by a S13 convertable at a stop light, it would get my respect

Thanks for the replies.
I would put the red top sr20 in there and convert it to manual (hopefully). I was thinking that he roll cage would stiffen the chasis and make it a little safer.

As far as what I would use it for...mostly just fun. Maybe an occasional autoX.

dude that's the sweetest car possible....

do a silvia front end conversion. SR swap...get a nice chassis brace and roll bar, and then do the regular mods...

check out Jerome on NICO's S13 coupe and imagine it as a convertible...that's my dream car

If I can keep the cost down, that's what I would like to do. The car for $300 needs a hood, fender, front bumber and headlight. I might as well do the conversion (if I can $).

My dream has ALWAYS been to own a s13 SR softtop. I have considered this in my Feb. decision. Im buying a new 240 in Feb/Jan and cant decide, but the soft top is a really big player in my decision.

Go for the 300$$, get the conversion. Beat her while you wait for your SR to roll around and bling, your in the mix

Here's a 'before' picture. I may just do the silvia front end conversion (dual projectors) first, so that I can drive it. Then get the red top front clip. It sounds like the clips don't come with useable body pieces anyway.

try ur hardest to find non projectors they looks so sexy. But you will be one of a kind over here. I know someone here has a manual vert, I forgot his name, but its white with pdm front lip (I think), and that headlight ram intake thing. It's really nice looking.

So go for it, and get the silvia front, I say get the SR before the roll bar just to embarass some people. More people will be suspisicous if they roll up on a vert with roll bars.

Wow. I friend had suggested that I take one for a drive since it was not designed as a convertible so...I took a '93 convertible for a test drive today. I don't know about the convertibles. Twisty is true. When I hit a bump, the windshield and pillar would wobble! I don't know if that f&r stut bars or a 4 point roll cage would fix that.

I know this is very old, but I had a question...

In dsmsleeper's post... the two verts are right next to each other. I noticed the silvia front end one had a hard cover partially on the top while it looks like the u.s. one doesn't. Can anyone confirm if this is a difference between the U.S. and foreign model??

Thanks for any help.
