ya know, low seats, my friend had a Del Sol, and it was too low to the ground for me. and I plan to get a 240 sometime soon, hopefully S14...anyone have any favs or hates about the car? I would appreciate it if I heard some of the likes/dislikes from owners...help me out a lot. and I'm a very short person, 5'6 or so, I'm only 15, goin on 16 so that kind of explains it, but if I could hear some of the likes/dislikes, it would make me either want the car more or less. thanks everyone

Well prior to getting my 240, i wasn't looking for one. What i was looking for was something that looked good, was reasonably affordable, and not everybody and their mother drove one. When I saw my car I thought #### those are pretty rare, I haven't seen too many of those! Therefore I like the fact that the 240 is not a common car, when I brought it home all my friends were like nice car, I haven't seen very many of those! I love the fact that it is a small RWD car, and torque is a beautiful thing! It gets much better mileage than my other cars. The only thing i dislike is the lack of trunk space. It was heartbreaking when I found out that My old speaker box didn't fit in the trunk! Now I have a pair of tens, and a sealed box, and I still have minimal room in the trunk. To tell u the truth the room in the trunk is none existant, but it's not like i need it. I do like the fact that there is no backseat space because when we go out there is no room in the back seat so i don't have to drive, and waste my gas. I always had to drive before because I also have a blazer. But i never take that one if we are going anywhere! Ok i think that is about it for my ranting! Overall I really love my S14!

Yup, I've got about the same things to say as lunatik, so I won't repeat much of it. The two biggest draws for me to the car are that there are only a handful (at best) in the city I live in, and it's a very sharp looking car with lots of possibilities for aftermarket mods. In fact, I've never seen another car with the same body style as mine where I live. Always a nice thing to have an uncommon car to drive around in.

I've seen 2 here in Norman. One is Red with the Silvia front-end conversion! when I passed it, I almost fainted. The conversion is so much cooler in real life! Then there's one that is the same color Red, just with the stock front end. Both very nice cars. My mom had the chance to buy on of her best friends 95 240, she lived up the street. My mom decided not to and now she's shooting herself in the head for it! haha, because back then I didn't know what the car was, now, I would die to have one! haha, I find that hilarious. But ya know. well all of the likes/dislikes, please keep 'em coming!

I love pretty much everything about my car. Even the trunk space is fine. A crate of vynyl fits in there perfectly with turntables and a mixer. That's about my biggest concern. I love how low it sits, but it's not as if you're on the ground. I think the only thing that's bothered me at all is the seats (i've got an s13) they look fine, but they can be uncomfortable on a long trip.

Wow--another OK member! Cool!

What I love about my car--unique, stylish, RED, handles awesome, low-maintenance, the foglights are excellent, braking abilities are great, easily modded.

What I don't like about my car--NEEDS MORE POWER (but that can be taken care of soon hopefully), and right now she has a few bumps and scrapes on the front end (#### highway construction traffic and sand on the road:().

I was also going to say that I wish the car had more power! But I figured that Zexel could remedy that shortly after buying one! Hey I live in tallahassee, and there is alot of riceboys up here with their ugly a** civic. I can't take my car out with out having some idiot rice boy try to race me, only to get spanked. #### I've had some of these idots try to race me in my truck! Plus my car looks a million times better than any of those civics, IMHO. Oh yeah and the insurance isn't going to break you. I was looking at a Supra TT, Before coming accross the S14. I really love the Supra, but the Insurance was too much for a young man. Unless you are married, so that's another thing I like!

Likes--handles great, sleek styling, good low end torque, good mpg, low stance, decent braking capabilities, good aftermarket potential, etc.
Dislikes--NOT ENOUGH POWER!, uncomfortable seats...mmmmmm...that's about it.

All in all, I love the car. Of course, I would love it more if it had 50-100 more hp:biggrin:, but maybe I can remedy that over the next few years.

lunatik,

If you've got any problems/questions about your Blazer head to http://www.s-series.org/phpBB/index.php . I've also got a Blazer and have found tons of information about it on this site. There is also alot of traffic on the site any time of the day because these trucks are so popular.

Cool Bro thanx! haven't done too much to the blazer. I lowered it, put wheels on it, System. But no performance stuff. I don't know how much longer I will have it, but It too is my baby!

Sounds good. I kept mine at stock height because I like to take it offroad on occasion. I've just put money into bolt ons for the engine and some shocks. The aftermarket parts are pretty cheap and do wonders for the 4.3L engine.

I dropped, and it handles much better but the ride is a little rougher. Eventhough I have yet to get in to a smooth riding S10. You know what I ind of like the New trail blazer LTZ, I went to see one the other day. It was gorgeous. Black on black, and fully loaded. Unfortunately the 240 purchase borke me, so i'll have to wait to get anyother vehicles. I figure I'll saveup for an EVO or GTR!

Well, this is coming from a NON-240SX OWNER, so be warned...

Things that I seem to like about the car:
Everyone seems to be talking about the torque, kind of odd being it's four cylinder. But if it does, all the sweeter.
Great sleeper, not a lot around so not everyone knows what kind of car it is if it's debadged.
Possibilities. There are SO many possibilities with this car (CA18DET, SR20DET, RB20DET, VG30DETT, RB26DETT, KA24DE) although some are quite tuff. I also love the idea of having a six speed tranny in the car.
The styling of the S14, I love what you can do with the front end styling of this car (front end, hood, lights etc.)
Made by Nissan, so it's going to be pretty reliable.
Rear wheel drive! Means it can be made to a beast. ( not always tho )
Great aftermarket.

Negative side:
#### four cylinder!!!!! Grr. That can be fixed with the VG30DETT, RB20DET, or RB26DETT. (although those can be quite costly/pain in the ass)
and...uhm...hard to find...

That's about it. My favorite gen. is the S14.

Ok man, the VG30 and RD26 engines will toss out much of what people like about this car.
The engine in it is torqey. VG and RB engines are not. They have more torque, but it's not as impressive FEELING as the KA's. Also, the braking that someone mentioned will be thrown off. You are now the proud owner of a 3,000 pound car, with brakes that stop a 2700 pound car well, but not impressively. Finally, handling. If you are disturbing a almost 50/50 weight distribution, which you are by adding a little over 200 pounds to the front, you will feel front heavy and the steering will go to crap.
The pluses to a VG30 or RB26 is that it will go fast. In a straight line. But we all know where the real races are done, and that is a street. People have 7 second 240sx's with a RB26 in it. But it's not reliable nor stretable.
And a final minus to the VG30. I have seen 2 articles about people swapping the VG30 in a 300zx for a SR20 motor. Which is a four cylender, so you are back to the "#### four cylinder!!!!! Grr."

It's an awesome car,

By the way, the shorter the better (for your legs that is). My loves about the car are as follows, big four banger (lots of upgrade potential), the engine is very reliable through 150K miles. Dislikes about the car, are the wet weather performance of the rear wheel drive, but rwd has huge advantages in handling over your civics, gti's and celica's. For performance stuff check out www.240sx.org.

I work at a Nissan dealership, and a few times people have brought S13s in for trade and all drivers seats had a rip on the upper left side. As a matter of fact, I've got one on mine! Anyone else has this problem?

P.S. Besides the rip in the seat and the RWD in winter & rain ONLY, this car is [bleep]ing awesome!

Yup, It's wearing out at least... If you get in really slow, you'll feel your back sliding against that part of the seat. Getting in and out over 10 or so years can really wear that part out.

i'll have to agree with most everybody else:
likes: rarity, RWD, handling, light and tossable
dislikes: not enough power...
but that WILL be remedied when i get back to the states in august.
i have a 90's13 hatchback but the s14s are very nice to. from what i have heard, the s13s have a stiffer chassis though...the coupe is lighter(cause it doesn't have that big ass piece of glass in the back), but the fastback has a lower drag coefficient, like .30 or .31 or something like that.
all in all i love my car(even tho i won't see it for another six months) and can't wait to SR it and go lite up some tegs and eclipse gs-tees.

I have a 95 s14 and I like almost everything about my car...most of it is said so i wont beat a dead horse.
Dislikes: trunk latch rattles on EVERY one of them...(easy to fix though)
and the door mounted AC vents SUCK...they are tricky little bastards to move around.
Stock intake and exhaust are about as restrictive as a noose, but again, your basic modifications are usually intake/exhaust anyways.

Rating: 8 (by comparison...a 10 would be getting blown by all 7 of hugh hefners girlfriends)

Likes: handling, balance, understeer tendancy in neutral throttle/braking, the braking power (when using well vented rims.. ie open spokes), and most of all: the interior. The thing I didn't like about the Civic and Integra was the way the interior didn't feel focused around the most important person in the car: ME. Actually, the '94-97 Accords even felt better. Odd I guess.
My biggest like is the amount of power the stock KA can handle.

Dislikes: too much power. It doesn't build as nicely, and way too much low end power. I can friggin start from a stop in idle, and that power is harder to control in slippery conditions. Hopefully a good turbo kit will kill some of the low end (THAT's why I'm going turbo. Kill off some power. Who cares about top end.) LoL
All 240's should have come with a VLSD, too.... why that wasn't a standard option is anyone's guess. I figure, if they just made VLSD's, they wouldn't have had to make an entire extra line of open diff output shafts!! Why didn't they just shave costs by sharing parts that are alread identical?? AAaaargh.
Anyways, my true dislike is the detuning of S14's.... why they switched to lower duration cams is anyone's real guess, and why they didn't up the compression is also a mystery. Evolving a car usually means giving it something BETTER than it's predecessor.

Hmmm. Well I love my non spoilerer, non lsd'd, non side skirted s14a, but damned if the last guy didn't fuck some stuff up, like on both doors there are tears in the vinyl at the bottom of the door? What the fuck it that about, it is tough to drive uphill on ice especially with no lsd... always slides one way, wouldn't be so bad if both went... oh well one more reason to buy a kazz right? The seats are a little too hard but your can sure toss around in it... the stock suspension is too weak and i wish I had the rear sway bar too... oh, and the fact it has a 4*114 bolt pattern... makes it harder than usual to find mags. Oh, and my windows make a wierd rattle when I go over bumps, I don't get that either, and the shifter shakes like a madman over 5700rpms... Likes... too many. I love the s14's styling more than any car out there... even more than the s15. The thing is gorgeous... throw in rwd and multilink suspension, and you have a car screaming for 300hp... and I will grant it's wish, I just need a few years to get the moolah.

Likes: Powersliding, and drifting ROCK. Cockpit type feel in the drivers seat. The torque is good for making those High hp wussy 4 bangers sweat through 1st and 2nd. Love the sleak lines, and body. Just a blast to drive. Period.

Dislikes: Shitty stock headlights, seats become uncomfortable on long drives, Wheels aren't wide enough, Needs LSD (not the trippy kind). Don't really like the Cloth covered Glove box Kinda hard to get used to the all the vibration that comes through the shifter, but after a while you grow to love it.

Things that tend to break (from my experience w/ several 240's):
The little plastic things that hold the Hatch cover up. Valve Cover gasket tends to leak after 70k miles or so, The seat rips on the side closest the door (thankfully mine hasn't yet..) Rear differential Pinion Seal, T/C rod bushings blow out. The KA does not like to be run low on oil. I blew one like that. I wasn't watching my oil close enough, and had a valve cover gasket leak. Oil got like 1 1/2 qts low on oil and threw a rod. Not Pretty. Timing Chain tensioners need to be removed after a while (usually starts making noise around 80k-100k miles) b/c of faulty design. They aren't made the same way anymore, and the new design doesn't use the same pieces.

Did I leaver anything out?

I know that sounds like a long list, but it's realatively short for a sports car. .. You never get to know how truley fun this car is, till you can take it through some hard corners.

Also as a word of advice. DO NOT BUY AN AUTOMATIC. They severly limit the driveability of these cars.

Love my cars. Definitely recommend the car to anyone looking for a car. I do have the rip in the seat on both s13s. I have no problem in the snow. In fact I pray for snow so I can go out driving! I have the open rear aswell.
