uknown smoking problem
I recently built my motor and now has 500 miles on it since the break in. it been smoking at warm temperatures at idle. when i rev it a lil smoke spits out the exhaust. it smells alot like fuel insntead of oil. the smoke color is white but sometimes looks a lil blue. when i smell it, it burns my eyes and nose. i dont rememeber burning oil smelling like that. either im running too rich with my tune or something mechanical is wrong.
i did a compression test: cyl 1 - 150 cyl 2 - 150 cyl 3 - 130 cyl 4 - 140 NOTE: everything on the motor is brand new: valvetrain and seals, the whole bottom end. what is causing this? its not coolant cause the motor never overheats. no oil in the coolant. i did pull off the hotside of the IC piping and found oil residue on the inside of the piping and coupler that connects to the compressor housing. the compression numbers dont seem low enough for the piston rings to be the cause. could this be a turbo issue cause im using a new turbonetics 50 trim. i was using 5w30 oil and just now changed it to 10w30 since the temp here in houston gets hot. the smoke doesnt smell a lot like oil but more ilke fuel and burns my eyes and nose. |

Check your fuel pressure. You could be dumping fuel. Also add a little oil to each of your cylinders to see if that improves your compression readings arcoss all cylinders. Did you prime the turbo with oil before you started the motor? A couple of things to start with. On another note, does your said turbo need a restrictor for the inlet feed. Could be dumping a little too much oil in your new turbo as well.

Definately sounds like your dumping fuel. puel the rail and prime the pump to see if any of the o rings are leaking. Driving around when your flooding the cylinder can cause hydro lock
