Reputable engine dealers?

Hi I was in the Honda scene, just sold my civic and now I am looking forward to a project 240. Anyways I was wondering if those who have experience can educate about which engine dealers/companies out there are reputable. I'm looking for a black top sr20det that is in great working condition. I'm located in southern california so the closer the better.

Don't listen to the previous statement. Zero lift. Is your best bet. Dude above could give a shit less, he's just tryna get posts.

And to the guy who called him a fag. Stop hating on this guy he has a 240sx not a pussy Honda anymore, CONGRATS!

Here is a good idea, you should try to source one from a local importer. That being said, if there is any issues with the engine swap you can take it too them instead of paying return shipping. Also get too see the engine in person to inspect before purchasing. Spin the crank; ratchet/ wrench Tool required* (make sure its not froze), Have them do a compression check. look for funny business or any water in the oil, check around the oil filler cap and dip stick (Usually a little oil left in the block) too get a look at the oil for any water contaminates. go local you won't regret it, And if you have to resort to purchasing online go ZERO LIFT

I see you are in SoCal. Go with natural aspirations(anaheim/Torrance), apocalypse racing( Temecula), or animal auto might help you out (Ontario) . Those would be the only I trust and recommend. GL

thats where i got my engine... and well i wouldnt really recomend it.
came with no maf, dented oil pan, cracked cas cover, and a broken coil pack cover. I had to hastle with them for 2 weeks until they finally sent me a maf and another super dented oil pan. no cas or coil pack cover that i told them about. Ended up using the maf and buying a new oil pan+ aluminum cas cover. Also they sent me a redtop with a redtop harness and a type x j4 ecu which confused the heck out of me until I learned.

JSPEC Auto located in virginia treated me well. Very good compression across the board

Also, why do people hate on other cars? Im all about the s-chassis but there are some sick hondas out there. It's just a hobby!

I think most of the 12 year olds that call each other (word meaning pile of sticks)( wahhhhh wahhh wahjh) on Call of duty have zilvia accounts.

Anyway, +1 on going local FIRST.
Try out every local place (even places with a bad rep) before doing anything online.
+1 on jspec
JEI in virginia
Nagano USA
JDM engine zone (Jersey but they have a really good reputation)
Rawbrokerage if they sell sr's
There's a good place in florida which I can't think of.

I say go local first because online, it is really easy to screw anyone over and blow them off. Even places with good repuations like Zerolift sometimes might send out a bad motor. It really is in your best interest to research everything possible about the Sr20, use that knowledge well, and make your own choices.

The 3 options you really have are
(best)- Buy at a decent or cheap price. Rebuild completely and have no headaches for a long time.
(meh)- buy a running one from someone local
Worst- buy the cheapest one, throw it in the car, and bitch when it doesn't work or starts knocking.

I live in Dallas and that shop has a bad reputation. No first hand experience with that shop, but I have heard enough horror stories.
