clutch not engaging
hello, wanted to see if i could get any advice. I completed my sr swap into my s14, the problem is that it wont go in gear when the car is on(no problem when its off). i've replaced the slave cylinder and bled the the more than enough times. ive also adjusted the pedal from imediate pressure down to hardly any at all, and still nothing. the clutch is an o.s. giken and shouldnt be bad, plus if i put the car in gear and start it it starts to move with the clutch in, so it must be an engagement problem.
sorry about the long post but i wanted to include everything. |

The clutch is always engaged until you press down on the clutch pedal. So I don't think your problem is in the engagement, unless you installed the pressure plate incorrectly. Your problem is that you can't get into gear when the car is turned on. So there must be a problem with the disengagement of the clutch. Did you properly install a new throwout bearing when doing you swap? Did you properly reinstall the clutch fork into it's correct position?

i didnt replace the throw out bearing, also the clutch was already on the motor when i got it(got it from heavy throttle, paid extra because of the clutch and other misc. parts)so it should be installed correctly. i installed the fork correctly. could the throw out bearing be bad? i just used the one that came with the tranny when i bought the motor. how can i tell?
thanks |

It could be the throwout bearing. The throwout bearing's job is to release (disengage) the clutch in order to switch gears. If it's messed up or not installed correctly then everytime you step on the clutch pedal while the car is on, you won't be able to get into gear.
