KA24E engine ticking.. HELP

I started getting a ticking noise coming from the engine. I'm not entirely sure if it's a valve, or lifter or rocker just yet.

any help would be appreciated.

and thanks in advance !

Check your oil level, how old is the oil in the car?

dammit my ka24de sounds just like this right now... to the point where i took tomorrow off so that I can have 4 days to do an emergency engine swap.

would like input too. otherwise, i'm going to take off belts off certain accessories and test to hope it is just a bearing before i pull the motor out.

Might be wrong, but is that the infamous timing guide thing?

dont rule it out. i got my ka24e torn apart right now that i thought had that same tick. did my oil change and it went away. then it came back really bad when i ran the car hard. replaced the timing chain the tick went away but heard a valve knock. pulled my head come to find out the guy before me did oversized valves but didnt do the work to the head. so it might be different in your case but mine was the timing chain. good luck if it comes back start to think about the timing chain

that def doesnt sound like the timing tick. That sounds like something metal on metal. I had the KA tick sounded like a aggressive cam that tick sounds like a knock or something since it ticks, pauses, then ticks again.

It's most likely just the lifters needing to be bled. 260K on my sohc and i run it hard every day with that issue. Bleed them, or don't; probably wont cause any issues.

So that little pin in the rocker arm is considered the "lifter"
