ok so i have a 95 240sx and i just started my s13 redtop sr 5speed swap. it has a greddy fmic, therefore i had to move my battery to the trunk (bought a relocation kit w/ 1 gauge power wire). i have the wiring specialties engine harness for the swap. i swapped the s13 alternator for an s14 one off my ka including the trans harness from the ka. it keeps blowing the 75 amp alt fuse as soon as i plug the fuse up(ive gone through 4). i checked all grounds, looked for shorts in wires, went over everything i could think of. i can turn the car over without the fuse but i know my fuel pump isnt coming on and it was working before i put this sr in. i havent checked to see if the coils are firing. if u have any clue PLEASE give me some freaking insight. any and all ACCURATE info is greatly appreciated. if it helps i have the #63 ecu and all plugs are connected. im ready to take it to a shop but not ready for the bill lol

once you tighten the pos and neg cables on the back of the alt it blows the fuse? Sounds like the voltage regulator but that would be when the engine is running. Have you had the alt tested?

no the alternators in already and tightened down. it blows the fuse as soon as i put it in. the alternator should be good b/c i had it on my ka and i just took it out to do this swap about two weeks ago. i should probably still test it anyway.

pull your cables and make sure none of the plastic coating is messed up leaving the copper exposed. also make sure you have the pos and neg cables on the battery right. lol.

it shouldnt matter what harness you have or what ecu. the 75 amp fuse is the first one in the circuit. this is obviouisly a power supply problem

lol the pos and neg terminals are right. i noticed that when i hooked the battery up that the wire hanging out the engine fuse box that are connected to the alt fuse is getting hot and smoking so i think it may be grounded out somewhere or something is crossed with something that it shouldnt be.
