Tein Flex vs Tein SS (or something else?)

I'm about to buy coilovers for my usdm s13. I was going to purchase Tein's EDFC first then pick which of the two (Tein Flex or Tein SS) coilovers to purchase. I have a few options, so I'm trying to find out the best. I have a friend who has brand new cusco pillowball upper mounts front and rear for $300, I could get the Tein SS and those and have one setup, or I could just buy the Tein Flex that have the Tein upper mounts, and run those. Or, for $1400 without EDFC, what would you suggest. Was hoping to stick with Tein, but if you recommend another manufacturer let me know. Need something soon, cant wait 4 months for it to get here. So nothing outrageous.
