Where to get fuel rail? 555cc inj.

Hey. Guys. First post here! I'm going KA-T. Aiming for around 7-10psi. Using a Turbonetics t3/04 and an Apexi S-AFCII and 555cc injectors. I heard that I should get a better fuel rail like from a Cobra I think. I'm having trouble finding a place that sells them.

why do you need a new fuel rail? are they top mounts?
you are probably gonna need more than an SAFC to run 550's...

Why would I need more than a SAFC2?

He has no idea what he's talking about, don't listen to him. A SAFC or a Vortec FMU will work great for that setup..... many many people have/ and are presently using it. You don't need a new rail, just get 550 side feeds and they'll fit into your stock rail just fine. You will definately also want to get a new fuel pump and FPR.

yeah I have no clue what I'm talking about...
if you don't know why an safc is a little inadequate to control 550's then...
I think that proves who is *slightly* more knowledgeble on the subject.
maybe you should look at what other kat's are running.
I haven't seen anyone running 550's and an safc...

well seeing how as you're "slightly" more knowledgable than i, why don't you educate me? Seeing how as you seem to know what you need to use.........

unless you are running a shit load of boost, you are gonna turn your SAFC down to its minimum settings and 550's are still gonna pumping out too much fuel. You need something like a tuned ECU or a piggyback programmable fuel management system.
And if you ARE running a shit load of boost, your timing is gonna blow the motor, so you will be getting something like a JWT ECU anyway.
Or at least an MSD BTM.

Err. Can you explain that a bit. I was told that I would be fine. I am planning running up to about 10psi. I thought you could have the injector flow setting so it would be set to 550 and it may run a tad rich.

his reasoning is this:

You are compensating for too large of an injector change. and as you compensate with the AFC by leaning the car out, you are in turn increasing timing.

im not familiar with the specifics of most KA-T setups, just clarifying.

damn 10 psi you better plan on retarding timing AND stepping up your ignition...

you doing this on stock motor?
have you done compression/leakdown test?

better do that before hand.

you have to retard timing as the engine makes boost or it will detonate. I have never seen a high powered KA turbo that did not have some sort of timing retard.
MSD makes a little BTM kit for the stock ignition but past 7 psi you might as well go for the full ignition with BTM.

Anyway with apexi SAFC you don't have infinite range of adjustment. You can only adjust injector +/- like 50%...
will that be enough to lean out 550's?
I don't know, I think the SAFC II has a greater range than the old SAFC, but I'm pretty sure 550's wouldn't work with SAFC one.

It's the stock motor. It was just completely rebuilt. I'm having a repuatable shop do it. So in order to up the boost I would need better ignition? Could you give me some links on that?

summit racing sells em.
if you are doing this all on a stock motor I hope you are investing in some dyno time, the stock rings/rings lands have a history of committing suicide at the first hint of detonation.
look at a ka24de, the ring lands are pretty thin for a turbo motor.

scum - i thinkyou really need to search what you are getting into. from your questions it doesnt sound like you know a whole lot on the subject. no offense intended. just search on here and freshalloy.com get some more info going before your first steps. goto maeda's webpage and PJ's (aceinthehole) webpage. very good info on both. hope i helped.
