Experience with Vivid Racing

I placed an online order with Vivid Racing for APR Mirrors and H&R 5x114.3 25mm spacers.
I requested that the items be shipped 2nd day air.

Here is the receipt from the order:

Vivid Racing
------------------------------------------------------
Order Number: 39206
Date Ordered: Thursday 22 July, 2010

Products
------------------------------------------------------
1 x APR Formula GT3 Carbon Mirrors 5.5in Lens Universal (CB-100004B) = $165.74
1 x H&R Trak DRM Series 25mm 5x114.3 Wheels Spacer Pair Nissan 240sx S13 88-94 (5064662) = $149.94
------------------------------------------------------
Handling Fee: $5.00
Sub-Total: $315.68
Vivid Racing Shipping (1 x 12lbs) (Next Day Air): $114.89
Total: $435.57

I received a call from Jim Rimmer at Vivid who explained that the spacers would be send directly from H&R so they couldn't be send next day air. We worked it out so that the Mirrors would still be air mailed while the spacers were shipped UPS ground.

Jim also verified my order with me and was very polite/cordial the entire time.

The mirrors arrived perfectly and were exactly as advertised.

About a week later the spacers arrived, there were 2 major issues. First I had ordered 5 lug, there were 4. Next I had ordered 25mm spacers. these were 15mm.

I called Jim who told me that I could only send them back if I paid the 20% re-stocking fee. I explained that the order was wrong and that since I didn't receive what I ordered I shouldn't be penalized.

Jim said he would talk to H&R and let me know something.

I have not heard form Jim/Vivid in 2 weeks. I've sent 3 emails and called 4 times, leaving messages for 2 different people. All my attempts to contact them go unanswered.

At this point I have no choice but to dispute the charge on my credit card.

Long story short this was a simple mistake that should have never been an issue. I don't understand why this became such an ordeal.

I had a similar experience with them although not quite as severe.

My car got a flat and Vivid is one of the only people who carried my tire size at a decent price.

Ordered one 255/40/17 tire from them and it took nearly a month and a half to be delivered.

Called after about a week and they said the order was not even placed when I personally placed it online and had a confirmation email sent to me!!!!!

Then the guy said that it will be taken care of and I should expect my tire very soon. Another week goes by.. nothing.

This happened twice and still had no tire.

So I called up and was very very firm with the guys and told them that I needed my tire 2 weeks ago and here it is almost a month later and I still have nothing at all. As this car was my only daily driver.

After being firm with them and not being so polite I received my tire pretty damn promptly and have had zero problems with it since.

Such a shame that you have to get loud and angry with companies these days to get things done.

I've ordered some stuff for my 911 from them and never had a problem, everything came in on time and one time they even called me to verify I was ordering the right part because it was for a slightly different car than parts I had ordered previously.

Vivid seems to be fairly well respected in Porsche and Ferrari circles. But as with anything, when dealing with high volume sales, an occasional mistake or two is bound to be made.

If I were you I would get on the phone and not hang up until you get an asset younare satisfied with, sometimes you just have to be an asshole to get results.

Vivid Racing...

Is AWESOME! Have to give a big thumbs up to the crew over at Vivid and mainly my man Jade. He's always made himself available and transactions are smooth as butter. Whether its wheels for my 240, coils for my M5 or accessories for my TT-S they have it all and at the most competitive prices. Don't hesitate to call them up and get a quote on whatever you need! Ask for Jade if u can
