need help s13 sr20det wont start

Hello im new here and not the best at fixing electrical problems. I have a 91 s13 with an s13 redtop sr20det swap. I purchased this car with swap done locally. Well i was out driving and was beating on it and it shut down and hasnt started since. I have now found out i have no spark, no fuel, no power to cas, of maf. I have power to egi relays but not after them. So since then i have tryed another ecu and it didnt work. I have pulled out my engine harness and stripped all down checked then taped. I still have the same problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated and if anyone local to cincinnati ohio wants some extra money to help me get this running your more than welcome. Thanks.

check common grounds, sounds like total system failure. Pick one item and start there.

have you checked the fender well wiring that passes above your front drivers side tire? if it isn't tucked up and you rub through it = byebye electronics.

Great idea. I was unaware they ran through there but I went out and checked and I still have my wheel well in. So so I guess I pull it out and check.

Does anyone possibly have a list of all ground connections to the car I might be able to check. I checked the two on the head cleaned and put them back on. Thanks again.

Fender wires are good. How would i go about checking power to my ecu. Should there be a light on the ecu when i turn the key to on? Noticed there were four relay behind the driver kick panel fuse box im going to find out what these are and test them. Thanks.

Get a hold of the Factory Service Manual(fsm). Within that, you'll find the needed information you are looking for. It also has some troubleshoot procedures, if I recall correctly.

Did your timing chain break?

there is no light on the ECU, technically u can do the Diagnostic by turning the little adj screw on the ECU( there are tons of procedures of How-to do this online) that would be the only light to light up. My ecu doesnt have the light so i cant garuntee thats an accurate means of testing if the ecu has power. Best bet is to get a wiring harness pinout for ur ecu and probe test the power wires with a volt meter.

Timing chain is good. So today we put a different ecu in the car. It started but wouldnt shut off when you pulled out the key. And after several testing procedures the new ecu burnt up. Also the original ecu had the ecu power strip on the board burn up. Also if we jiggled around to ecu harness it would get power and start but trying to find that short causes it to burn up. So what does someone think about this. I tried to explain the best I could. Thanks again to all!

Sounds like your harness is the culprit. You may have to unravel the OEM tape/material and check the wires individually, or just buy another good harness.

Ya that's what I'm thinking also. Taking both ecu to get repaired today so I hope everything works as far as them being repairable. Got another harness going to run through it and make sure it's good. I will update my situation today. Thanks to all.

ours wouldnt start when we first did the swap.....
we brought it to our local automotive electrical shop they found the problem in 1/2 hour....
believe it or not the stop light switch was grounding out causing the 50 amp fuse to pop.
we put a new stop light switch and a new fuse never had a problem since car runs great...
So it was a short that caused all the frustration, and alot, i mean alot of cursing.
