s13 S13 open diff output shafts?

OK, so I pulled my S13 r200 open diff to install my Tomei Techni Trax 2-way and I have a question about the output shafts.

I was working at a pay-by-the-hour shop. I had everything laid out all in order when one of the guys who worked there came by and told me I had to hurry up cause they were closing soon. So I start to clean up, when the same guy comes with a plastic bag and starts throwing all my stuff in it. If it weren't for me planning on returning I would have had a nice word with him, but I kept my cool and packed up the rest of my stuff and left. =/
I remember which shims came from which side, but I can't remember which side the output shafts came out of. I know there's a short and long one, my question is which side does each go to? I know I could just re-assemble and figure it out that way, but I don't want to risk messing up my new diff. I've tried searching the forums and using google to find out, but I haven't had any luck. If anyone knows for sure which goes where i would really appreciate it.

Thanks, Richard

bump, I am going from a vlsd to a welded open diff and my output shafts are different sizes, on the drivers side the shaft goes in way too far and actually hits some of the welds on the differential, it looks like I could just saw the peice but if possible I would like to purchase the correct output shaft. any further insight would be appreciated, or a part number because im not sure what part to order exactly.

my vlsd may be from a 300zx or one of the cars that require different output shafts

ok so you should have two thin shims and one real thick one, Correct?

One thick and one thin on one side and the other thin shim on the other.

you will be able to tell if you put these in the wrong side as the gears will not merge properly.
