S14 trunk torsion bar install?

Okay, here's the deal. I need to swap torsion bars in my trunk with base model ones because I know longer have a deck lid spoiler. I'm sick of my trunk exploding every time I open it. I have the new torsion bars from Nissan, but it is such a fucking pain in the ass to install them. There has to be a tool to install them without the chance of losing a digit or maiming myself. Nissan wants $100 to do it and I basically told them to kick rocks. I'm not paying $100 to install $30 worth of parts. So who's done it, and what's the secret? I've removed them before on other cars using a large 3/8 extension but was never successfully able to re-install a set.

Remove rear seats have a buddy lay there and you in the trunk. Get a hose puller or something with a hook that will let you and him pull the new ones on. OR be lazy and put a piece of lead in the trunk lid

So are the rods really different from non wing and wing trunks?theres not alot of info on this subject and I want put up some pics on when I install mine

The best trick I've used, number of times, is to use a large combination wrench.

I set the open end of the wrench, with the opening upwards, inside the "U" portion. I then use something that's non-slip, typically the handle of a large plier, and set that across the "U", and inside of the opening of the combination wrench, forming a "T".

Putting it back on, just do the same technique, but make sure to leave room in the "U" so that the tool won't interfere with the trunk hinge.

If you have the combination wrench opening side facing wrong direction, it won't form as good of a bite as necessary. Also, if the cross bar was something slippery, then it won't work as well.

I've use this technique on my '94 Q45, going from wing-less spring to w/wing spring.

I installed mine in about less than 15 mins by removing the trunk,then loosening the passenger side hing from inside the car, and completely removing the driver side hinge, added the bars to the driver side one, tied the ends of the bar on so they wouldn't come off, then I added the other ends of the bars to the passanger side hinges, had my brother from the outside of the car push the driver side hinge back to its stock location while i bolted up the 4 bolts on the inside by hand, then tightend the passenger side back up, then tightned the driver side back on as well.
turns out i have the NON wing bars, so I cant use them, the trunk actually slows down on its way down but it will not hold the trunk up, I saw a s14 with a wing, saw the bars, they are shaped slightly different than mine,so I will be looking for someone to trade me for Regular with Wing bars.
this did not involve any special tools or screwdrivers as it was installed with no tension , the tension appears once you try to install the hinge back on so you have to have a 2nd person guide and push the hinge back on while you be careful not to install the 4 bolts back in sideways

Yeah, my technique uses standard tools, and takes less than 5 minutes. It's a one person job too...

Taking off the trunk, and putting it back on is more than a 15 minute job... especially if you are removing hinges, and other stuff.
