Well 700$ isnt pricey but it just seems weird that I can get a gun cheaper from a local store than directly from the manufacturer.
What does one think of that 700$ in socal. 5.56 nato rounds and he sells each about a quarter a round.

You can build one for cheaper. Del-ton makes some decent uppers, but for $700, you're likely not getting a chrome lined barrel, it appears as though it wouldn't be 1:7 either.
Take a trip to your local gun shop, snag a stripped lower (spikes, and several other brands would run around $130-150 after taxes and paperwork), then hop over here and grab this kit. Palmetto State Armory 16'' Hammer-Forged, Chrome-Lined, Standard Rifle Kit Hammer forged, chrome lined, 1:7 twist, all for <$550. So now you hop on youtube and ar15.com, put it together with some tools you probably already have and have a badass rifle with higher specs than the del-ton you have in mind, for the same price (or cheaper!!) than the del-ton, AND you are more familiar with it because you put it together. Just my .02, though, take it or leave it. That's my plan of attack, though. |

thats actually pretty cheap. but wagdatto is right. you could build something better for cheaper. guns are just like everything else in this world...you get what you pay for when it comes to retail/"out of the box" guns. i shouldn't really talk though because i'm lazy and about to pick up a daniel defense m4v5 vice build something.

Regardless of what I said, I like the way the Del-ton feels. I actually liked it better than the S&W Sport! It felt better balanced and overall liked the way it handled. BUUUUUUUUT, I'd prefer to buy a few bit and pieces at a time that are quality, assemble it myself, and have an overall better firearm than an out of the box. However, if you do that, it's easy to lose track of the budget, haha! You could easily spend over a grand piecing it together just because "That trigger is only 20 bucks more, and that's the part I'm buying this month, so why not!"
